Car revs up from 4 to 5 gear

I just noticed this recently and it doesn't happen everytime, mostly during acceleration onto high ways but the car will go from 4th gear then it'll rev up and then go down to the 5th gear. Does this mean my transmission is slipping? My CPO ends at the end of 2016 so I'm not too worried right now but if it's the start or something. I want to be prepared lol.

when was the last time you changed the tranny fluid?

Honda automatic transmissions are known for being less than stout.
I would be on top of the ball with fluid changes if I had an automatic

so it revs from 4th gear and shifts up to 5th gear?? sorry but isnt that what a its suppose to do? or are you just phrasing it wrong?

While I'm driving, the engine will accelerate and then when it goes from 4th to 5th. The engine will rev up and then switch to 5th gear. It's like there's a gap in the gear or something.

I haven't changed the transmission fluid yet since I got the car (last wednesday) but there's 75,000km on the car now. I plan on doing a full fluid change (transmission, rear diff, oil, coolant, brake fluid) this month though.

sorry i am still trying to understand the issue you are having..

do you mean that right when you hit the point where it should shift from 4th to 5th, it over revs while switching gear?

give me a play by play

Lets say I'm cruising on the highway and I'm in 4th gear about to go to 5th gear (automatic, no sport mode). I'll be driving, then it'll rev the engine quickly then it'll switch to 5th gear. The car itself doesn't move any faster. It's like I'm driving and then I push my gear into neutral, then back into D. That's basically what it feels like.

see its all in the details.

how long does this ghost revving last for? a split second? does it happen when you push the car hard? at roughly what rpm does it happen at?

It's usually a split second. Happens I would say around the 3k rpm range when I'm accelerating from on ramp to highway. I wouldn't need to push the car too hard to get it to happen and it's generally out of no where. I don't really notice too often. I just know it's the same feeling I had when I had my 01 Acura CL and the transmission was going...

Yea, I would say that your transmission is slipping. I'm guessing its the 5th gear clutch pack, but that's just speculation. It means you get a new transmission.

I'm guessing it normal since the car feels like you don't need the torque from 4th so it shifts quickly to 5th. Maybe try driving on a straight road and gun the car and see if all the gears hold with releasing the gas.

Yeah I'm gunna drive it a bit more then have the dealer take a look at it. I don't want them to slap me with another $50 bill because they think it's fine...

and thanks man. Was my old TSX. Sold it cuz I wasn't about that slammed life anymore lol.

Yeah I don't blame you. That's gas money.

The TSX is very nice though.
