Buzzing/rattling noise in 2010 TL
Hi everyone,
Curious if anyone has had a buzzing/rattling noise in their TL (mine is a 2010). I only hear it on the highway and on rough roads, so it seems like something is just loose. It appears to come from the dashboard or even the left vent on the driver's side. Wondering if anyone experienced anything similar.
I had it at the dealer once and they thought it was the propeller shaft (which was replaced). Turned out that wasn't it (even thought the shaft was faulty). To me, the sound is like a loose speaker or screw rattling, but figured I'd see if anyone had something similar with their TL.
Thanks!

Well I had a similar experience with the rattling sound coming from the opposite side, but it turned out I had put some crappy sunglasses in the compartment near the cabin lights and forgot about them. Somehow I perceived the sound to be coming from the dash.
Glad I figured that out before taking it to a shop...it was driving me nuts haha. Have you tried reproducing the sound after taking every little loose thing out of the car?

Thanks for the reply. I did notice my sunglasses will rattle in the overhead compartment and I've tried removing things from the door bin/pocket. But I guess I'll check the other door too and checking around more. I wonder if something blew up into the vent even?

Those little noises are a real pain... when you take it in to the dealer, for some odd reason, it disappears and just cant seem to reproduce it.
I had a problem with the heat shield and i kid you not, I drove about 100miles in one day trying to find a sweet spot in the rpm range to reproduce it.

Sometimes, the source of those noises are not where seems. For instance, I thought I had ratting noises from where dashboard and windshield meet... but it turned out to be the rearview mirror assembly on windshield. Sound has a tendency to bounce around...
