the other day, i was pumping gas with the engine off but with the lights on. when i got in to start it, the car completely went black like the battery was drained. i tired a few more times, but it was still dead. i then turned the headlight switch to the off position, and the car started. have anything of you experienced this? what do you think the problem is?

OP, couple pointers here....

never leave your lights/radio/etc on when you turn your car off....what happens is your lights and other accessories drain your battery for the duration they stay on plus, when you go to start your car, them staying on does damage your accessories as well as the battery....

after I pull into my parking spot, i push into neutral, pull the ebrake, i turn the radio volume to 10-12, turn the radio off, turn the headlights off, push into park, turn the car off....

about your car, take it to advance auto parts/autozone and get everything checked out for free

 

sounds like a bad battery to me or a lose terminal. how old is the battery?
