Thumbs down Bad tint....

Now I know it's not technically part of the car but I have had my tint redone twice, some of the windows 3 times and there are still quite a few bubbles. Is this normal or am I being too picky. I just figure, for the price that tinting costs, there should be no bubbles.

Agreed, no bubbles should be present. Give the tint about 5-7 days for the bubbles to disappear. If they don't then you have a problem. Mine took almost 4 days to go away. This included leaving my car outside baking in the sun (and super hot inside). I think both of these things help the adhesive cure.

^ Yes, it takes several days for the tint to cure. Do not roll down the windows for about a week, either.

Today is day 5 of my film being on and the place said 3-5 days before I can roll them down. I will not be rolling them down til at least day 7 just to be positively sure no damage will be done. Better to be safe than sorry and if you crave opening the windows, open the sunroof!

I had a bad experience with my tint. I brought my 09 tl to get tinted at this shop it was offering 99 for the whole car. I read all the reviews and 13 out of 15 were good so I thought I would give it a try. What a mistake I brought it in 5 times! First time I noticed that there were scratches in the rear window we thought it was the tint so they re did it and come to find out it is the actual glass that is scratched. I went to the Dealership and told them because it was there before the tint, but they said that the tint place did it. So now I am stuck with tiny scratches in my rear window and few bubbles in one other window gues it will go back for round 6. Atleast the car is only a lease.

Does anyone know how does the lifetime warranty actually work? My tints are getting pretty scratched up at this point but I said no to the moleskin. Will they redo the scratched up tints? I'll take pictures if anybody wants to see them...It's very bad

I have to go back to my guy too, had to get all my windows replaced once already, now they're showing signs of scratches like crazy (and i RARELY have back seat passengers, and they're always adults) and my driver window has a long bunched up line running across its entire length....the place I goto is the best around me, got 4 other cars done there and no problems at all before the TL, I guess the TL's dislike tint haha

I've had 30% llumar tint for about 6months and no problems. It really depends on the quality of the shop I believe.

You need to get metal in the film. llumar makes 2 kinds of film,,,, 1st. is dyed plastic like blue, green, red, plastic/suran wrap. 2nd is film w/metal in it, almost like tinfoil on the window,it reflects the heat. llumar film you want is (ATR ) thats metilized film. I have llumar ATR 15% ... comes with a lifetime warenty from lumar...and i live in HOTASS FL. you pay for what you get, fo sho ,,,,,,,,,,,,i used to tint cars n homes...installed audio aswell,,@ soundinsights questions let me know ,,chris

I was told by my tint guy not to get the metallic tint with my TL since it has the nav and sat radio, so I went for the carbon fiber film, but its so easily scratched its not even funny and it was $100 more than the normal 3M, i still have to go in to complain, havnt had time

What I did was put metallic tint on the side window and regular tint on the back. No problems. I did have problems with the the am radio with the metallic on the back window.
I had no problems with any bubbles or scratches.

I also have ATR metallic tint. No problems at all with nav, radio or cell service.

I am sure you have problems with your A M radio reception. You probably had not paid any attention to it. I f you are in the city you might not notice it, but you will not have the range reception you once had. I listen to talk radio at times and outside the city I could barely get my favorite station. Once the tint got changed it was like night and day.

I guess I don't have a valid argument for AM reception since I never listen to AM. Sorry.
