4G Seat Issue with lower seam in seat.

Hi guys. I just bought a 2012 4G SHAWD and love the car but am having an issue with the drivers side seat. I initially thought it was the lumbar system but after looking at it closer I have pinpointed the issue. It seems the SEAM in the seat has some type of metal or hard plastic in it that sticks out if you run your finger over it. Its about 2-3 inches in from each corner. (I will attach pic). The passenger side seat does not have this issue. When you engage the lumbar, it is more pronounced(which initially made me feel it was the lumbar mechanism). Does anyone have else have this issue ? The dealer was trying to tell me this is the way the seats are because their sport seats. BS. I am going to work with Acura corporate, but still I wanted to get feedback from other owners.

Here's the parts diagram and link to all the parts;
Acura Parts @ AcuraOEMparts.com - Genuine Acura OEM Parts from Delray Acura

Perhaps there is an issue with the clips that hold the seat heater up or something because there doesn't look like anything is really there.

Yeh I saw that digram before. I *think* I read somewhere that the seam is lined with metal in the SH-AWD. I think. Too much metal in mine apparently.

I have the same problem with my 2012 FWD. It feels like a bar goes across the seat in the same area as you showed. I looked at Mitchells OnDemand5 and it shows the motor is on the right side of the seat and there is a cable from it to a flat looking piece of plastic in the upper part of the seat. It looks as if when you energize the lumbar it turns and pulls on that flat looking plastic making it buckle...think of it as a playing card in your fingers, the more you squeeze the card the more it bows out. My theory is the plastic piece or what ever it is has cracked and that's what we feel when you adjust the lumbar out. If I person takes the back cover off you should be able to view this. I'll try and paste a pic of the seat.

Having sean the actual seat cover, I do believe the issue is in the actual seat cover itself. There is a metal bar that runs along the seam and there are 2 plastic clips that hold this in place, They are right where I am experiencing discomfort. My dealer has ordered me a new seat cover, and a foam piece that is supposed to be inserted somewhere. I am going to have it installed tuesday so I will update the thread. But if you look at the actual seat cover(the pic I had was off ebay, since removed) you will see what I mean.
I love this car, but I have to say this issue has been a real downer. Fortunately I have a pretty good dealer that's going to take care of it for me and they didn't pull any "diagnostic fee" garbage with me to look it over either being my car is still under full warranty.

OK finally got this issue fixed !
The dealer replaced the seat cushion inside my seat and now its all good ! This was all done under warranty. Apparently the person who had my car before must have been a very heavy-set individual as a lot of the padding in the seat was mushed down causing the metal bar and clips that run along the seams in the seat cover protrude more than they should. The dealer showed me the cushion that WAS in my drivers seat and it was pretty mushed looking and parts of the side bolsters were ripping away from the main cushion. I'm not sure how heavy you have to be to do this but it seems the 4G TL was not made for very large people. The seat feels great now !

Glad you got it solved. IMO, the 4G AWD sport seats are some of the best I've experienced. Maybe yours are too now.

That makes since, I felt around trying to determine how thick the foam was and it seemed only about 1 inch thick where the bar was protruding. The seat cushion should be able to hold up better than this in my opinion.

I think its one of those scenarios where if your butt is wider than the seat area and it extends into the bolsters, your going to ruin your seat in time. That's what it looked like happened to mine. The bolstered area was ripping away from the main cushion. I do feel this is part of the reason in the 5G TLX the seats are flatter. More one size fits all.

I agree and the 4G seats fits me like a glove. After driving the TLX for about week, the 4G felt nice and snug.
When the weather gets warmer, gotta start jogging again so that my butt doesn't get too big for my car.

Ha. I remember a few years ago when I had my 3G TL, I went to lunch with my boss at the time who was pushing a very bottom heavy 350-375 lbs at around 6 ft tall. He got in my car and his head was almost hitting the roof because he was probably literally sitting on the side bolsters.
