2013 TL SH-AWD new engine block

Hi everyone. Been browsing here for awhile wihtout posting and thought I would let you know what just happened to my TL this last week. I have a 2013 SH-AWD with the California package and bought it used last fall. Love the car and enjoy driving it very much.

Here is what happened. I was idling at a stop light on the way to work and suddenly the car started running really rough and errors started to pop up on the screen. Had the engine light on, emission error, AWD error and hill assist error. Took it into the dealer the next day and after troubleshooting they found it was misfiring on cylinder 3. They checked all the usual suspects, coil pack, injector, spark plug etc. None of it fixed it. They sent the data to the factory and they concluded it needed a new engine block with possible scoring on the cylinder wall. Luckily it is still under warranty otherwise it would be a pretty expensive fix. I have 46k miles on it. Part that sucks is that there are no engine blocks available. ETA is May for a new engine block.

Anyone else have had engine issues like this?

That's a new one. Did they say what caused the cylinder scoring in the first place? Had to be a broken ring, damaged piston or damaged valve, putting debris in the cylinder.

Unfortunately they did not take the engine apart during troubleshooting. I would like to know also what the exact cause is. They sent the data back to Acura and then Acura made the call to change the engine block after their troubleshooting. Hopefully I will find out after they swap engine blocks.

They gave me a brand new '16 MDX to drive. Not to bad. Lots of gadgets on it to play with.

Does your 2013 TL SH-AWD VIN fall within this range (VIN 19UUA9...DA000001 thru 19UUA9...DA005530)?

Yes the vin number falls right in the middle of that range. Is there a known issue with those vehicles?
