2012 TL 3.7 Speaker static noise
2012 TL 3.7 Speaker static noise
I purchased a 2012 TL SH-AWD from it's original owner a couple weeks ago, with 80,000km (50,000 miles). Earlier this week, I heard a pop from the speakers, followed by a static noise when the ELS stereo is at low volume (the volume was not high at the time). It wasn't present for the first few minutes of driving the next day, but came back after a few blocks. I've since heard the popping sound one more time and now the static noise is consistent. As far as I can tell, the noise is coming from the passenger A pillar and front passenger door speaker., and no music is coming through these two speakers. The volume of the static does not change, and can only be heard when the road noise is low and the volume is turned down. I've talked to my local dealer, and they want to start by replacing the speakers, but can't guarantee that it will solve the problem. Does this sound like a speaker issue, or should I be looking at replacing/fixing the amp, or is it something else?
it could be the speaker that gone out or it could be the amp is going bad. I have a base model TL and i had similar issue but it ended up being my amp. Are you pretty handy? If so, maybe pop out your driver side speaker and pop it into the passenger side door and see if you have the same issue.
it’s fairly easy. It’s on the passenger side of the trunk. Just take off the carpet panels and it’s bolted onto a rail. 10mm bolts if I remember correctly. Well the base amp is there at least. I’m not quite sure about the premium package.
