2009 TL - Car shut off while driving

I am wondering if this has happened to anyone? I just purchased my TL 4 days ago... and while rounding the corner from my house, I began to go up hill and midway through the car shuts off... Lights and everything else work but the engine was not running. I tried starting it again and it cranked, but would not get about 2000 rpm before quickly shutting back off. I tried again, starting it up tried to give it a little gas and again rev'd up to 6000 rpm and then quickly shut off... I brought it back to the place where I purchased it and the mechanic has had it for 5 hours and said he is having a hard time locking down the issue, initally thought it would be a fuel pump or fuel injector. Any Ideas????

How cold it it where you are? A freeze in the fuel line would have that effect (and then be tough to diagnose, as the blockage would thaw in the shop).

I live in CT, but it wasn't cold when it happened it was about 40 degrees at the time it happened...
Anicra- I haven't checked fuse 13... but I will do so!

Thank you both for your insight... Im also wondering if its a sensor? maybe O2 Sensor?

I had a shutdown similar to what you described years ago; it was a frozen fuel line. But that was -30C (-22F); you wouldn't see it at 40F, even if you were buying your gas from a guy with a jerrycan in a Walmart parking lot.

13 controls your mirror and part of the computer to dash, if it goes, your car will try to start and it will for like 10 secs then die. I did on accident this last spring hooking up a mirror tap. Just figured see if it is fine, if it is then check the next area.

Hey OP I’m from CT myself. Had that happen on my 2013 Acura TL once. I was stuck in snow in my driveway and kept spinning the tires and turning aggressively to get out of the snow. My car stalled out as well. My battery and oil light came on when that happened. Did that happen to you? Right now the car checked out fine so I blamed it on traction control.

No lights or check engine light came on when this happened which i thought was really odd... but she is up and running beautifully now!! I can't wait to start doing some mods, any good places that sell Acura accessories???

Acura Acessories aren’t going to be cheap if your looking into getting the A-Spec body kit or other items. https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/ is your best option if you wanna get OEM accessories. As for tints if you don’t have any. I did mine in Bridgeport at Tint King they come with a 3 year Warranty.

Thank you, I have tints already, it came with racing brakes and a few other goodies! I'm looking for rims and I need new brake pads as of right now. I have some work to do on the interior, but thank you for the link I will use that! Hoping to enter it in a show competition one day soon!

You’re Welcome. What year do you have? Lol That all sounds good. Just don’t turn it into a Rice Bucket.

it's a 2009... and I would never do the " Rice Bucket" only something that is fit for a queen... and to pay tribute to my racing days that are now on the back burner

So I take it you’ve been to Honda Day? That’s the only time I seen an actual race in person. Lol Well that and the Highway warriors in my morning commute. One nice exterior mod would be WellVisors.
I have them on my car. They look pretty sharp compared to the Weathertech.

Yes, I have been to 1 and that was where my friend won 1st place for her Acura TSX... but I have a little while before I will be Honda Day ready. I want take a bit of time to come up with with the details of my concept...but im working on it! Keep in touch, im thinking a Dragon theme, to go along with the Mayan Bronze color of the car! but it has to be done right...

Interesting I wonder how you plan to excute a theme like that? Is it like wrapping the car?

I am exploring the car wrap option but I want everything to flow inside and out... I have to find the right design that would look best for the car. Im going to take my time with this one!
