2009 TL Battery Replacement

THinking of doing it myself. DOne batteries before. Have a settings protector but never done on Acura before. I plan to buy Costco 24F Kirkland Battery

1) Will my 9V settings plug into cigaretter lighter work ?
2) Is the Kirkland 24F best for Acura as there are many review indicating for 24F to go with Walmart for Everstart MAxx.
3) Dealer charging too much for Acura battery
4) My Battery is measuring 12V no load with V-meter and via cigaretter lighter port 14.1V while driving. I think being up North (-35C) i need to replace

Any thoughts appreciated

I find myself in a similar boat - 2010 TL SH-AWD. It takes a 24F. Dealer wants $139. Walmart said their 24F has raised vents and won't install one. As I see it, the raised vents only interfere with the cross bar that secures the battery. Should I keep looking or should I just drop the Walmart one in without the cross bar? Waiting for my local Costco to open to see if the Kirkland one fits. Any advice appreciated.

I've bought Kirkland batteries in the past. I'm no electrician, and can't speak to battery specs or the chemistry behind them, but I can say the Kirkland ones have performed perfectly for me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

UPDATE: My local Costco didn't have the 24F in stock so I bought an EverStart Maxx 24F (750 CCA) from WalMart and installed it myself. The cross bar seemed to hold down the sides of the battery more than press down on the top so I went ahead and put it back in place (just not overly tight so it doesn't interfere with the vent caps). No problems. Had to enter my radio code at first usage. Five of my 12 pre-set radio stations were lost on my Sirius XM settings, and the seat memory settings were lost but I didn't notice any other issues (phone set up and directory were intact, bluetooth re-connected to phone with no problem, navigation system worked fine and all my addresses remained, etc.). $104.00 after core return.

good job sehale.

its not rocket science!
grab a 24F battery and swap it for the old one!

its not a good idea to use a settings protector on cars with major electronics, like the acura's.
Remember to have your radio and nav code handy so you can enter them in.

Going to get the Costco 24 F and try it. Walmart said they will not install as not made for the car or not listed in their catalog. Not sure on the warranty impact
Not sure why the setttings protector will be an issue ?

A couple of notes about installing a new battery. First, put some Vaseline on the terminals. Helps avoid corrosion. Don't empty the entire thing! Just a bit! Second, the poor-man's battery test: instead of spending close to $100 to buy one of those battery testers, you can remove the fuel pump relay (from under the dash fuse box), plug in a cheap multimeter to the battery and when you crank it if it drops below 9v, its bad news. I don't want to put any unsafe ideas in your heads, you just have to have a bit of experience before you try these things, like finding the fuel pump relay first and second taking all the necessary safety precautions (glasses, fire extinguisher handy, safe ventilated area etc etc).

I checked my Pilot which has a Kirkland Battery 2.5 years old and it barely reads 12V. I can go back to costco but what is their criteria for warranty on battery <12V or dead altogether <9V or something low ? Anyone done a Costco warranty challenge ?

Replaced with 24F from Costco. Worked ok but will need to cut off handles to accommodate top bracket. All settings dissapeared. Radio code was to be entered in a strange format. Using the preset radio keys type it regardless of what you see on the screen. Car starts nice and quick.
