'10 SH-AWD hesitates at 5k

i have a '10 TL SH-AWD 6MT. When i accelerate hard in first gear, the engine cuts out around 5k RPM. Its as if the rev limiter is kicking in way early. i can redline it in other gears. this only happens in first gear. anyone have that problem or have any thoughts? thanks

Warranty?? Mine doesn't have this problem nor has it ever exhibited anything like this. Redline in 1st gear all day long... Let us know the solution if you have it fixed.

BTW, does it happen every time??

ive only noticed it the last few days & it seems to happen every time i accelerate hard. ill have to try a few more times. i can redline it any other gear, only when i push it hard in first from a dead stop have i noticed it. definitely a warranty item! tx.

Checkyour oil level and your messages on your Navi see if the engine oil level indicator is on if not they may have to do a reflash.

cbryce - u may have been on to something w oil level. low oil wasnt on when i noticed the problem, but around 10% oil life the low oil indicator came on. i was like 2 qts low! im a new tl owner, but im realizing oil consumption is pretty normal w the 6MT 3.7. im getting it to a dealer asap for oil change & check out the oil consumption. im thinking the skip in first gear must be tied to oil level as well.

^^ These motors use oil pressure to activate portions of the VTEC system. If there is low oil pressure due to insufficient oil levels, it may run properly at VTEC rpms (although the VTEC cutoff on these motors is much lower than 5K).
