09 wiper problem

Are there any tsb's related to wipers with this year? Wipers at times will not even turn on unless messing with switch which is brand new oem just replaced less than a week ago. Did not seem to help. Seems more so colder temps. Thanks for any info or experiences.

I have the opposite problem. Mine won't shut off. If I put them in intermittent or mist they immediately go to low and won't stop. At that point they keep flapping and no matter what I do with the switch, they won't slow down, speed up, or stop. Eventually after any where form 30 seconds to 5 minutes they stop on their own, wherever they feel like it. This doesn't happen every time, only 50% of the time or so, so I have to turn them on and off again until I get to the time that they actually work properly so that they park correctly. The dealer has replaced the switch 3 times now, and it still happens. At this point the dealer said they can't do any more, so I just have to live with it.

I actually discovered that there is a major ground connection for the wiper motor circuit behind the left front of the bumper close to the alloy subframe. Pulled it up on a shop key wiring diagram. Great spot for road salt and Corrosion! Good job Acura!
Mine going up on a hoist Wed and gonna have a close look and clean it.
That is the only exposed ground on G4 tls for wipers. So you may wanna check yours. Will report what I find on Wed. Bad grounds for will cause havoc on high tech cars like this.

Can you post a picture of where it is when you do it? Do you think it's accesable via ramps? I'm wondering if this has been the issue all along. Thanks!!!

Yep, I believe you are referring to the G301 ground. There are other components using the same ground like the entire fuse box. It is bad. After 5 Canadian winters I just took a look at it after reading your post... and it is in all messed up.

But, what I was thinking is that if the symptom is just the wipers and not the entire fuse box going mad, perhaps there is another issue here. There have been reported issues with the steering wheel coil spring going bad and people hear some loud "clicks", wipers stop working etc. I believe there is a thread somewhere around here. Perhaps thats the culprit.

The only other related grounds for wiper functions I see on my shop key wiring diagram is ground G401 behind left side of dash. The washer pump is grounded at G203 behind the right side of the dash up near cabin filter I believe. Also there is another major ground identical to the left side one behind the bumper but on the right hand side behind the bumper! Not sure what runs off this major ground but I'll be cleaning that one up as well. Bad grounds will cause feedback voltages and just cause all kinds of weird issues! As far as I can see these are the only poorly placed ground connections on the entire car that will get totally exposed to road crap. There are others under the hood and many inside the car. Also a couple of grounds to look at under the seats. Another hot spot for moisture and salt. Hope anyone with problems that don't make any sense may find this helpful. Cheers! Mark

When I get my car on the hoist Wed I will take pics of both grounds behind the front bumper left and right side. Hopefully they will look like crap! And try to post them for members here. Just a high resistance issue at these points will affect the systems in check. Just puts a choke hold on the electrical like pinching a garden hose. Will report back soon....Mark

Well you have to move this vented piece of plastic out of the way looking towards the left front of the car. After clearing this piece look straight up about a foot and you will see ground G301. 4-5 wires are on this ground, one of them is the wiper circuit. I removed and cleaned the rust off the connection. Was an issue for sure. I also did the same procedure on the right front same region. There is a tiny little ground all by itself below the main one with almost speaker wired sized wire. 20 gauge maybe. Mine looked like crap. Cleaned that one and the main one right side, cleared a BCM code I had after messing around and now my driver's door handle black lock button is back to normal and so are the wipers...go figure. Almost bought a new driver's door handle for 220 bucks. Glad I did not. Software issues are an issue on this model as well. Clearing any bcm code can help or solve problems that don't make sense sometimes. So check your grounds, and good luck! Mark

Also to remove that vented panel and bend it back out of the way you need to remove 3 M6 bolts from each side if doing both grounds and one push in plastic clip. Can do it on ramps as one member asked if you like but you'll be on your back looking up. I had a nice super bright LED trouble light, 1/4" drive ratchet and 10mm socket and away you go. Takes a good hour to do both sides. Have fun. Oh ya dielectric silicone grease on the grounds after tightening them down will prolong any future grief. Hope this helps some of you guys out. Cheers.
