Slimline LED DRL

I just picked up a set of Slimline LED DRL and took it to my friend shop and have it installed. We had to do some modification to mount it right between the signal and foglight. The brightness of these LED are comparable to those of the new Mercedes Benz C Class or the GLK since the LED kit is very slim. But during the day, it is still bright enough. I need to figure a way to by pass to where it will not dim while I have my headlamp on. So anyways...enjoy...

Yes the curvature does not align with the signal. But this is as close as it gets since the old hella DRL I had didnt fit perfectly so I brought these.

Ya unfortunately that was the best I can do as far as putting DRL LED. I know it will not fit 100% but I just brought it and try it out. My friend and I are in the process of making the DRL on the headlamp using full 12V LED with a module to by pass the error message on the MID.

At the beginning of this project I thought it would block out the top portion of the foglight but turns out it didn't much room to block it because the Slimline LED is about 1/2" in height.

Looks very nice Raymond and my respect to you for achieving this mod on your new TL. My only concern is that is too bright at night. If you install a dimmer that sells at Radio Shack you can reduce the brightness. I did this with my BMW when I installed angel eyes.

Oscar, when I have my driving light or headlight on, the LED dim itself because it have a module. Its not TOO bright at night because the unit is so slim the out put of the LED doesn't spread out much. Unlike the Hella LED DRL I had on my RL its bright. Actually I wanted to be bright at night because of the slimness of the unit. I just contacted the online store and said I can make it not dim at night by just disabling one of the wire. Will try it out this weekend. How is your RL coming along? BBK in yet? I want to see!

Shhhhhh, Raymond it's a secret . Kit should be ship today from CA so I should receive it next Thursday at the latest. Hopefully I can install it before the car show here in MD on August 28th, other than that the RL is driving smooth. Do you still have the deck spoiler?

In regards to the led DRL it look too bright on the photo you posted. Maybe it need to be appricated more in person I guess since photos don't do any justice. Keep up the good work with mods that help us here get a better vision.

Look into this site:
http://www.tmtuning.com/vw/

It is call slimline LED. They are pretty pricey. They have the spec and size of it.

JLC lighting sell similar and the brightness is comparable to the one I have.

Good Luck!

AHHHH I thought you had the one to the orginal link you posted, now its more clear those are quite pricey and its questionable to take a change on ordering these they are almost 80% cheaper then the set your running.

JLC have a set some where on the link but I did remember seeing it in person at the shop. I can look at it and take a picture for you. It's a lot cheaper and brightness is the same as the one I have.

I went with this german brand because at that time my friend JLC didn't have these size yet and luckily I brought these because my other friend have an Audi Q5 and installed onto his bumper grille and looks very slim and OEMish look. So my friend with the Q5 give me the link of that company. After installing it, I had my friend at JLC to see if they can or mimic the size and look of what I had. They said they were doing those but somewhat similar looks. So I will have to check them out if they have those shipment coming in.

Previous style 2007 with 2008 Sport bumper. I still need to get the lower fog covers and center lower grill.

Your foglight section don't have enough room to put any LEDs that is bright enough which you prefer to go with. I look into my friend site and there isnt that fit right or give a OEM look to it. I thought about trying the E Class LED but I don't think that would look good UNLESS you want to sacrifice your foglight. And I thought about placing the LEDs on the center bottom grille and it doesn't look nice as well.

I'm thinking putting it right above the fog light there's going to be some trimming needed and there's lots of space above at least half inch and 2 inches in front of the fog maybe more. Imma believer and i think it can work if done well....
