New owner - from Z to TL
So, this past week I decided to make the change to get something a little more practical. I previously had a 2006 350Z and 2007 Xterra for my year-round driving, but after taking a job that increased my commute from 3 miles to 30 miles each way, along with wanting something that I could drive throughout the year (350z works well with snow tires, but its not fun), and planning a family in the next year or so, the TL fit the requirements. I was getting 15mpg with the Xterra and 23 mpg in the Z during the commute. I'm hoping the TL gets numbers similar to the Z.
I wanted something with a nice interior/exterior, good stereo, fun to drive, decent mpg. The 2013 TL Advance w/ SH-AWD was perfect! I was sold once I sat in one and saw the umber leather in person. I know the redesign is coming in another year or so, but I really love this color combo and the changes Acura made in 2012 to improve the grill and other areas. I loved the 350z, but I'm not regretting my decision to sell it for the TL. This car is just as much fun but MUCH more refined. Now I just have to get through the break-in period to really see what this engine is like.
And now for the pics:

Congrats.
The AWD TL, equipped with winter tires, will be capable and fun when driven in the snow.

Thanks. Thats what sold me on the car. Love the way it looks. My wife has a black car, so I know what I'm in for in keeping it clean. Just sucks this time of the year with the snow/salt/rain spray getting the car dirty pretty quickly.

Camero194....Congrats and welcome to Acurazine!! You made a very smart decision and I like how you gave it some thought and came up with a decision that made sense for you! Will the TL do everything the Z did as far as handling and straight line acceleration....No but I will say this, it will do many many things better and at the end of the day, made a decision to match your need!
Car looks amazing and I agree, waiting for the TLX may not always be a smart decision, they could do changes that will neuter the current TL. If this cars is what you love, you did the right thing, and she is gorgeous! I love my 2012 and would not trade it for any other brand ... at least not now The umber....I am not a huge fan of it but that is a personal thing. I like Black interior on a white exterior....but that is me

Very nice colour combo choice, I love the umber interior and I agree it looks much nicer in person than it appears in photographs.
I think you'll be happy with the drivetrain, it isn't a bullet but it has plenty of get-up-and-go to keep the car entertaining, the paddleshift and sport mode also help.

OP, I hope you don't miss the 3-pedals in the Z. Of course, if you fell in love with Umber, it's no longer to be had with the MT, anyway, which has been available only with black interior for quite a while now (I think since 2011, or the 2012 refresh at the latest).
BTW, with my 6MT, I get between 23 and 24mpg on my 30 mile commute, which includes making full use of SH-AWD on 5 90-degree back road turns in each direction, and a clover-leaf on-ramp daily, and about half a dozen traffic lights. [Commute takes about 35 - 40 minutes]

Congrats and welcome. Great color combination. As pointed out above, too bad it's no longer available with the 6MT.

Welcome Camaro-both are good looking rides.
Naturally, we're a little more biased towards the TL though......

Almost two weeks in and I'm loving the car so far. Got almost 700 miles on the car already and its a blast to drive now that I can finally go above 4k rpm. I was cleaning the car for the first time on Saturday and noticed a slight scratch on the plastic cover for the NAV screen. Going to see if I can find something to clean it up instead of having to deal with the dealer.

don't mean to offend you OP , the new switch just "outshines" the old in this comparison (or maybe its just the new car)" and it also made you look so much more classy/mature! especially in the beautiful color combo you got!!

i'm curious how the performance - both acceleration and handling - of the TL compares to your Z???
I had a chance to drive a Z similar to yours years back when I was test driving cars... I remember really liking how the Z looked and I was expecting to really like it and I was left kind of disappointed. I honestly didn't think it felt all that fast... but it was just one test drive.
the TL is not a sports car..but the power level is more than enough and the handling is phenomenal for a sedan... the SH-AWD system is magic. once you figure out how to drive it.. you will be amazed at what the car will do. you have to almost go into a turn a bit slower than you normall would and then get on the gas as you go into the turn and accelerate through it... you will literaly feel the car tighten it's line and if you tighten the turn, it will do it. it will rip through turns.. amazing stuff!
it woudl not surpise me if the TL outperforms your Z.
the NEW Z.. that might be a different story and I suspect they would beat out our TLs...

I have only been a passenger in a 350Z but I was the previous owner of a 6sp 09 370Z for 2 years. There was a pretty noticeable difference in power and handling. I had to trade mine in for a 09 TL SH-AWD(Growing family). I'm very happy with the TL overall(even in comparison to the Z). I know comparing a Z to a TL is apples to oranges.

i think thee are a lot of big differences between the 350 and 370.
i wouldnt' want to compare a TL to a 370Z in the "performance" category...but as far as the 350z goes... I'm not so sure a 350Z would outperform our TLs... and if they did it wouldn't be by much..
the 370Z..that's another story..that car runs with a Cayman...which is out of our league in terms of performance!
