Yea you will need some hub rings. I got my roof spoiler off a member on azine for a good price. I believe everyone is getting them off ebay though already painted.

Its a new year! Always a good time to buy stuff for the car so maybe if I keep it I'll have more to post about. Not sure what's next though. Maybe front tires then coilovers. Until then!

Well I'll be home alone on Thursday and Friday. I have to clear coat the taillights to get the finish back but should be ready to pop them open one of those days if you have time.

Yeah I don't think I have any plans for either at this point... May get my truck back one of those days so I may have to handle that but won't know till I get the call it's done... how long are they gonna be at Disney?

I personally really like that grill. Trying to find a replacement grill for my 09 TL probably going for something non chrome and painted. Car looks awesome though great job
#494
It's the oem grille just painted to match... there's a member here that paints them and sends it to you and you send him back yours for the next person...

Hey Matt, love with what you did to your TL! Just got my 09 sent from Buffalo to Dubai! Haven't started on her yet :/ but would love to rock those tires and rims! I tried ordering some tires with your measurements (225-35-20 & 255-30-20) but I cant get the two different sizes to match the same tire brand. Any ideas? & where do you suppose I can get some vossen's for a good deal? Sorry for the ignorance!

Wow that's pretty far to have a car shipped! I appreciate the compliment, thank you! My dad just got back from Dubai, he said it was pretty nice there.
My new tire setup is 245-35-20 for the fronts and the rears are 275-30-20. If you lower you will have to roll the rear fenders otherwise they will rub pretty bad. My other setup is rub free through even without rolling the fenders. I would check other brands, yokohama's are good and stretch easy but there are other brands out there too.
As far as where to buy the wheels... I have good luck on ebay; I got my wheels from there for a pretty good deal. Way below what they go for new.
If you need more help send me a PM and I'll point you in the right direction.

Well I made the mistake today of going to discount tire. I have always had good luck with them and they seemed to be legit. They have mounted several tires of mine in the past and haven't had an issue. Not the case today. They chipped the fuck out of one of my wheels. I have to say one of the most insulting things about the whole experience though was the fact they sat there to my face pretty much called me a liar.
I sat in the lobby and saw the guy mess the wheels up on the machine thing they change out the rims on. I could see the shine from the lip, the wheels are painted so they should not be a shinny metal color. I have a tendency of loosing my temper pretty quick over shit happening to my car but figured don't get pissed they will take care of it; its all good. I waited until they were finished before saying something. I wanted to see if they would fess up and kind of take a step back from the situation instead of walking over and being like dude wtf did you do to my wheel; just kind of let things unfold.
When they were finished the guy who worked on my car called my name and said I was all set. He showed me the rim that was messed up and asked if I painted them myself. I told him no, they came like this from vossen. He said well it looks like they were already flaking. I had plastidipped my wheels one day to see if I wanted to have them powder coated another color. I removed it the day after since I got the idea of what it would look like. I had some random pieces left in some places that were hard to get it out. I pointed out that yea thats plastidip not paint. I'm trying to be patient at this point and give the dude the benefit of the doubt. I realize he is just a tech so I'm told him basically people make mistakes and I'm not mad but I'm going to talk to the guys inside.
I grab the service guy who helped me out and let him know hey your dude scratched my wheel come look.... He goes out and looks and is asking "did you paint these?". I tell him no.... they came like this from vossen. He called over I guess what was the manager, he asks me the same question and I give him the same answer. He then says well I see flaking in other places so it must have already been like that. I told him about how I plastdipped them and he pointed out a flakey area at which point I showed him it was a rubber coating and its not paint. I let him know either way they didn't look like this when I brought my car in. I also pointed out the fact that how would the metal be so incredibly shinny if it was existing. My car is pretty dirty and its been raining, doesn't make sense that it would be fresh and shiny looking.
The 2 guys kind of look at each other and one of them then tell me "well its a reverse mount wheel there isn't anyways our machine did this". I let him know calmly since I'm trying my best not to be an asshole about it that I saw him take the wheel of and then put tape on the machine to prevent it from scratching my other wheel. He tries to explain to me again that it isn't possible that the machine did this. I cut him off and let him know that basically there are 2 options at this point. We can either take care of this or I can call corporate and take care of it with them but either way its going to be taken care of. He starts trying to give me some lame excuse again but I cut him off and let him know that my car isn't in the condition that I brought it in and that I expect it to be restored to its previous condition. He says fine, we can have someone come and repair it but they are only going to repair the lip nothing else. He said they aren't going to fix the rest of the flaking, at which point I say yea obviously... the flaking is not flaking its peeling, no since in fixing that since its not damage.
I think the guys figured I was trying to pull a fast one on them. Like somehow I was setting them up so I could get 1 f-ing rim repainted. Its hard to explain but it was very passive aggressive the way they implied that it was impossible that their machine was capable of doing this and that it looks like it was already there. I mean he basically called me a liar without saying it to my face. At least to me it seems pretty shitty to mess up someone's car then try to blame it on them, contradict them when they say uhh no it wasn't like this before, and then act all pissed off that you have to have someone come out and fix the shit they messed up and to top it all of not even apologize once for the mistake or the inconvenience. Just doesn't seem right.
They want me to come in Monday and have a mobile repair guy come by and take a look and repair it. I have to drive all the way to their store again to have the repair guy fix it. I'm debating on calling the corporate office over this. Its cool and all that they are willing to fix it but trying to make me feel like I did something wrong by bringing my car up to them to have them put some tires on is pretty shitty. I felt like I was the one defending myself when they were the ones who fucked up my car! Not to apologize for the inconvenience is even worse. That should have been the first thing they said. Customer service is a fading trend nowadays I have to say.
Anyways here are the pictures, think twice fore going to discount tire!

That sucks bro, sorry... but you need to get the rest of the plasti dip off before they paint over it. Dip them in black and peel it all.. and I'd be calling corp wanting a new wheel not some paint over damage...

^Damn that sucks so bad Matt. I had a similar problem with American/Discount tires awhile back. Had new tires installed on a set of chrome lip wheels, and they were scratched/scuffed afterwards.
I just go to local Mom and Pop shops now because most of them allow you to watch them while working. Always tell them to throw on a microfiber towel between the wheel and tire iron tool.

I'm heading over to OP Acura in a few to pick up the grommets and washers to drop in the TPMS finally... Since it's time to rotate Erin's... Time to Flip them for Camber Wear... Really hope I don't have a similar issue when I get hers done... The bad part is all it takes to not have this happen is the company replace their plastic guards on the machine regularly and stop being cheap... it's like 7 bucks to replace them...

Yea definitely going to be more careful about where I go. I don't think the shop even had plastic tabs. They literally tapped the parts that attached to the wheel before putting my wheel on it. I've never worked in a tire shop and thought they were bring extra careful with the tape. They are only going to paint the lip but they didn't mess up the metal so I'll let them slide with just the paint.

I hadn't heard anything as of yet so I decided to call them up and figure what the status was. They are waiting on the wheel repair man to call them back. So far the manager has been easy to deal with. I wanted to figure out since the wheel guy is mobile if he could do the work at my office. Manager said he would prefer to have it done at the shop so he could pay them incase the charges end up more than the quote. Fair enough, he said he would try to accommodate me though.
If the rim guy does a good job I may have him fix the minor chips in the other wheels.

Thanks, I appreciate that!
To update my discount tire debacle...
They ended up sending the guy to fix my wheels to my work. He was did a fantastic job also. I had him go ahead and fix all of my wheels since he was here and he gave me a good price. All in all it sucked to have discount tire scratch the shit out of one of my wheels and what not but they did make it right which in the end matters the most to me. The manager called me up a day after just to make sure the guy came out and to see if I was satisfied.

Hey Matt what do you recommend for 19" CV3's going to probably put them on my TL for summer wheels and keep my stock 18's for winters. Planning on dropping them on Tein SS Coils by the spring.
did you go 20x8.5 by 20x10?
Vossens will run anywhere from 2000$ - 2600$ with tax depending on if you want 19" or 20"s.
Helps if you know a shop that will get you list price or has a connection with Vossen so you can get a deal.
Couldn't tell you how much he paid for the tires.

Thank you Sir!
I got mine off a BMW, I paid about $2000 with shipping and tires included. Seems to be about the average price.
I went with 20x9 and 20.x10.5.
19" is going to look kind of small on the TL unless you slam it but if you thinking about 19's I don't think that's the route you want to go. If you just want a minor change and don't care 19 is fine. I'd go 19x10 with like a +35 and probably 265 30 19. You could always go 20x10.5 and use a 255-30-20, that setup never rubbed for me. Try out willtheyfit.com its a great site. Plug in your oem wheel and tire setup then what you plan on getting and it will give you a pretty good idea of how they will fit on the car.

this is why you should only go to stores that caters to the aftermarket crowd.. they know how to take care of your wheels.. those american tire companies you see around.. discount tire, american tire, sears, costco.. are all run by incompetent employees that can give two shits about your car or your wheels.. They just want to get you out of the door asap.. if you go to a shop that caters to high end wheels and cater to lowered cars you will see different results.. and 90% of the time, they are cheaper than your basic american tire company.
i went and got a quote from american tire down the street from my work because it was close and i could get it done pretty quick without running across the opposite direction to get tires from my usual spot.. the difference between the shop that i went to and american tire was about $80 bucks a tire.. with cash, there is no tax.. and after a few reviews on yelp.. that location had many bad reviews of high end wheels getting damaged due to installation.. my guy that i used across town never damaged any wheels before.. highly reviewed by the community and they do extreme stretching...
just read up on tire central located in san gabriel, ca...
i went to highschool with the owner.. been frends for 10+ years
The wait is long but that is due to being at a small spot, not they moved into a bigger lot and more workers.
283 reviews and still 5 stars..
