Gloss Black Vinyl roof wrap

Decided to get my WDP '10 TL roof wrapped in gloss black vinyl (3M 1080 material) afer seeing several members on AZ do the same. Always loved the look of black roofs on white cars, so I decided to taked the plunge. I'm pretty happy with the results! The work was done by a company called Autotize out of Mill Creek, WA.

$300 is what I paid. I recieved a quotes from 3 different shops, and this was the lowest. The install itself took about 1.5 hours.

Looks good!

The labor on vinyl wrapping is crazy though. That's probably $50 worth of material and $250 of labor.

Nice, .......I like that you decided to go with the gloss black, instead of matte black.

Yeah, I was hoping it would be less expensive, but there are not too many shops that do this work in my area. The shop that did the work (Autotize) only does vinyl wrap work for cars and businesses, so I decided to go with them.

Thanks! Yes, I had the fin antenna wrapped as well. I wanted it to blend in with the rest of the roof.

Do you know how they wrapped it?

I will be wrapping my roof in gloss black soon as well but I have no clue how to wrap the fin. It's very curvy with sharp edges.

Did they remove it or wrapped it while attached to the car?

They wrapped it attached to the car. There is a small 'seam' on the back of the antenna where the wrap comes together. Not too noticeable unless you're looking for it.

Okay, thanks for the info. That's what I thought because I think you have to be at least a god of the vinyl wrap masters to be able to wrap that fin in one piece.

Do you know if they removed the chrome molding(or whatever it's called) on both sides of the roof?

They did not remove the chrome molding. There is a strip of rubber grommet under the chrome molding that can be slightly lifted up, so the edge of the vinyl goes just underneath this rubber strip.

Do you have any air bubbles on your roof? I just did my rood and got a lot of bubbles. Hopefully they'll go away.

No bubbles on my roof. The installer at Autotize did a good job.

Nice! I debated painting mine, but I was too chicken to commit to a more 'permanent' solution..
Do you have any pics of your painted roof?
