Well, you all know that I just recently got my grille and rear trim painted CBP. And with this Chicago winter, theres always salt on the streets. I was driving down the highway and every car that I was behind would kick salt rocks at my car. Everytime I would try to get away from cars driving in front of me, some car would always ruin my plan.
Well I got to my destination and checked the grille to make sure that the grille didnt chip from all the cars kicking back the salt rocks at me. This was only a couple days after getting the car back from the body shop. When I checked, I didnt notice any chips, but it was night time so I thought everything was OK.
So as I was drying my car after a much needed car wash due to this nasty weather, I notice about 10-12 rock chips in my grille. I guess I havent noticed them before because they were blended into all the salt and dirt on the car. I called the body shop and they said that we should wait until it stops snowing and get it repainted. Now I have to drive around for the next month or so with chips in my grille. Hopefully it doesnt chip even more.

I love the look of your car; I have a CBP SHAWD Tech and I want to pain the grill, trim, and also vinyl the chrome side moldings. The headlights and taillights are sick too. Are they glossy black or flat black?

And thank you everyone else for the kind words. I have some other minor mods to do once the weather warms up. Nothing too major though.

I share ur pain, mine is a lease also. I want to do allot of mods but after further analasing I am better of just buying an AWD when my lease is over. I have the money to do a few things but just thinking of taking the loss at the end of the lease on these mods does not let me sleep at night.

^^ Yeah as much as I want to do a drop and get new rims I can't justify the price enough on a leased car. I'll prolly do Takeda intake, and finish the lights (black out on front and tint on back) and call it a day . I got a buddy who has a corporate discount on Acura parts (33% off) so maybe I'll order a body kit and that will be pushing it all the way.

How many hours did it take to get these installed? Some told me roughly about 4 hours for the coils and 4 hours for the EDFC. At $90.00 to 100.00
An hour, that's allot of money in labor. From what you said they charged $400 that is pretty decent price.

Damn, almost $2,000 for the perfect drop. I would love to drop my Type S, but I just can't justify that kind of money for it.
Yes, it looks great, but still...

^^ yeah man I really would like to drop it but almost $2000 on lease car that's a little crazy. I have the Eibach springs and they really suck. I most likely will just change them
To Tein springs and I'll take it from there.

Rock Chips in Grille
I was finally able to take a couple pics to show you guys the chips that are in my grille caused my the stupid salt rocks on the road. I'm gonna get it repainted once the weather clears up. I also have a dent in my drivers door so while its in the body shop, I'm gonna have them take the dent out also.
I'm going to have them detail the car, repaint the grille, remove the dent and install a clear bra for the front. I'm just going to leave the car there so they can do everything at once.

hate to burst your bubble but it doesn't matter if it is "salt rocks," that grille is improperly prepped and the paint chipped right off.
Look, you can see there is nothing under the chip except for metal. If salt rock were that bad, your bumper and hood would be just the same.

Yea your probably right, what's the proper way to prep a grille like this? Can you describe the prepping process step by step?
I just thought it chipped because it was only a couple days after I got the car back when it was attacked by salt rocks on the highway that night. I figured maybe because it was still fresh paint. But then again, I'm not a body shop expert so I'm just taking a wild guess on everything.

You need to scuff very well, then self etching primer or epoxy, then some sealer, then base and clear

Looks really awesome! I especially like the first pic the grill looks so good from the side IMO. I like how the trim around the windows is the only thing left the polished aluminum it really shows off the shape of the cabin. I was going to vinyl mine grey metallic but i think i am going to leave it now.

The lights and painted grille just change everything on this car!!! Looks good.. Your stock rims are nice but a nice set of 20" will really make your car a crazy headturner.
