2010_TL Progression-Updated 2-19-13

This is a progress thread for my TL, just to show what I have done to the car itself. Its a 2010 SH-AWD CPB with Umber interior. I've had the car about about 1 1/2 years now and no regrets at all. Comments or suggestions are always welcome. Thanks for looking. On with the pics....

Unfortunately, I dont have any pictures of the car when I first picked it up from the dealer but I think we all know how it looks like by now without pics

This is a couple days after I picked it up, had 30% tint put on

About a month later, the tints werent dark enough for me. I guess the umber interior made them look alot lighter. I ended up getting 5% tint put on. I also installed the Takeda intake around this time also, but I don't have any pictures of that.

This was our first winter season together lol

Then I found a set of the HPT 19s in the BM. I regretted getting them when I first purchased the car so I grabbed these for a pretty good price. I got the idea of getting them powder coated the same color as the 07-08 Type-S wheels so as soon as I received them, I dropped them off to get them powder coated. This was the result. I think they turned out great.

Looks much better in person

Here are a couple pictures from when my cousin used my car for a small photoshoot.

^^Look at that wheel gap lol

Decided to get rid of the enormous wheel gap so I purchased a set of Tein SS Coilovers w/EDFC.
Before...

After....

I finally had the time to send my lights to JnC. Blacked out headlights and smoked tails. Turned out great, thanks again JnC.

There will be more updates as time goes by and I do some more mods to the TL. The car is going to the body shop tomorrow to get the grille and rear trim color matched CBP. I'm also going to debadge the car and tint the rear reflectors. Sorry for all the pics. Feel free to leave comments, good or bad. Enjoy!!

i was rather skeptical about the powder coating job on the hpt; i honestly think they look great left alone. the DROP though, meshed everything together. very nicely done. now if only you could get those center caps color matched (difficult to do though). body kit all around and you're IN BUSINESS! very nice progression op!

Thank you sir! I have to try the 07-08 Type S center caps and see how it looks. I couldn't get them powder coated since they're plastic. As for the body kit, I'm waiting for the RJ lip kit

You have done a superb job with the mods so far...But IMHO the wheels sit to far inside the fender since lowering on coils. Wheels need to be more flush with fender for a better stance. Also, the appearance from the front will be greatly improved when you get the grill painted CBP. Just my .

They're charging me $290 for everything. Thats for the grille, rear trim, fog light housing and silver pieces running along the rear window. I thought it was a good price for everything.

Oh, and theyre going to debadge the car for me since its going to be at the shop anyways.

Are they charging too much?

That's a great price, nicely done btw...love what you've done.
You can probably look into spacers if you wanted a more flush look...but not needed necessarily. Great job!

looks great! just curious... are you also going to body match the chrome trim pieces too (other than the front grill and rear shield)? ie... the trim around the windows, rear window, etc.

Just picked the car up from the body shop. I gotta tell you, painting the grille and other trim pieces REALLY transform the car. Im very happy with the results. It makes the car look alot more aggressive. Ill let you guys be the judge lol, here are some pics....

^ CBP grille and fog light housing

^ Debadged and CBP rear trim

^ CBP rear piece that runs along the rear window. Its hard to tell.

^ This is how the car sits now.

Thanks for the comments and enjoy!

We got our grill and trim painted at the exact same time haha! I think it's just so much nicer to look at. I would have never thought to have that rear window piece painted, very original. Very nice ride you got there.

What about plasti dipping(spraying) the chrome moliding pieces black? Get rid of ALL chrome on the car, save the emblems.

There was a member that vinyled the chrome with black.
i think that would turn out MUCH MUCH better than plasti-dipping.

car looks sick man, I really love those tail lights. I'm sure you have heard this a million times, but the body kit would really set your car off.

cant decide whether I like the all red tails or yours better, I think its a tie as of right now loll

Yup, I say again the entire grill painted looks best on dark cars.

Im definitely thinking about doing the vinyl over the chrome. Im just not sure if doing the vinyl on the door handles will effect the keyless entry feature. I might just have to try it and see what happens.

Lol I think it just depends on your preference. I like the smoked out look better. But then again, I do have the black theme going on with the car.

Painting the grill makes an enormous difference with the car. I think its the best option for any color.
