Straight pipe question!!!

Hey guys, im very very new to this mod stuff....so heres my question...

If i were get a place to put in a straight pipe/J pipe and remove the resonator... what does this do for the car other then give it more sound..... does it void any warranty? Any performance enhancements? Is there something i should ask the shop to do specifically like add or remove something?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated, I am very new to this stuff!!

Also for people in toronto.... any inputs on "Evolution racing" located near keele and lawrence?

I'm new to the performance modding scene myself so from one rookie to another I believe resonators are only in the back of the exhaust system, just before the mufflers. And that adding a j pipe/test pipe (the straight pipe u mentioned), would only enhance exhaust flow/performance. Not sound.

With that being said if you are going to have this custom built why not have the j pipe/test pipe built into 1 piece?

And if you REALLY want enhanced sound sign up to the XLR8 cat back group buy!

Not sure about the great white north, but down in the states, muffler shops can get in big trouble for removing any emissions control device (effectively a straight pipe replaces a catalytic converter). This is easily done yourself with a good jack, a 3/4 drive ratchet set, and an impact wrench.

Resonators do exactly what their name states, they provide a space in the exhaust for resonation. Think of them like mini-pre-mufflers.

Removal of these and the cat will give you a more raspy/throaty/gurgly sound from the pipes, as the sound isn't bouncing around inside resonating chambers before dissipating.

Never know a muffler shop in Oregon that said no, however there is always one GTS who plays by the book.

Does removing the resOnator give you a weird buzz at high rpm? I was thinking about having mine removed too.

Where might I find more info About the group buy?

Raspier on the rev up, gurglier on the rev down You hear more of the sharp notes going up and more of the pop coming down.
