Light weight crank pulley
So ive searched the forum but keep getting results for 3rd gen tl and cls, I was just wondering if anyone has done this to a 4th gen tl and what results have they got??

I'm on the fence. I did this on my CL-S6M at the same time I did a light fly/clutch, and the outcome was not good. Clutch engagement was very tricky, and burned up a clutchmasters street disc in 10k of just daily driving.
The 3G guys concensus was to do the light fly, or the pulley, but not both.
I remember reading here earlier that there aren't so many pulley options on the 4G because the pulleys are lighter than they have traditionally been.
On the Civics/Teggys I worked on, the pulleys were good for adding a little pep in the step; it's not like some huge, noticeable, neck snapping power adder, but you notice a bit more urgency getting through the revs.
At $100 - it's a consideration; at $250, I'm not sold on it.

The lightweight crank pulley is a great mod. Some people says it's their favorite mod. You will notice better throttle response and an increase in hp/tq. The TSX 2.4 saw 10whp and 10 wtq with the lightweight pulley set.
And I've sold hundreds of these to the 3rd gen TL owners. I've sold dozens to 4th gen TL owners, and have received the same positive feedback.

Well I had the UR lightweight under drive on my 05 tl and it made a huge difference, but on my 07 tl-s I didn't feel any difference, just didn't want the same results with the 4th gen..

I think last price they spit out was $250 or something crazy. At $100, I'd think about it. At $250 for a lightened/balanced pulley set - I'd think about it. $250 for the 4-5hp you might gain on the low end, is a bit steep. I'd have to see what the weight differences are between it and factory, and some dyno sheets to believe it really does anything more than that.

We can set one up. If we get 10 people we can offer a 10% discount.
There have been CL/TL dynos. Here is one:
There was also an independent dyno done on a 1G TSX 2.4. The car made about 10 whp/wtq.

We've sold and installed a number of these on the 4G TL. It frees up typically 7-10 HP on most J-series motors.

Knew I'd find it if I did some digging.
The J35/J37 crank pulley diameter is the same from the 03 Accord to present it seems.
I'm recalling that the J37 FACTORY pulley is 3lbs lighter than the J35 FACTORY pulley on the 3G TL, but I am 99% sure they are all the same diameter (and the fitment guide on the XLR8 pulley backs this up).
Here's the Razco (which I had on both my CL-P and CL-6M) for $159, and I bet you can find it cheaper. This is a 3lb pulley, I'm uncertain the weight of the Unorthodox.

I can't tell that there is much difference between the 31 and 30, but obviously the part numbers are different, so somethings up. I talked to Ray @ Ralco and he said if it doesn't work, that he'd make one for us. $200 per pulley, 15 order minimum, and $500 shared cost for making it. (Basically $233 a piece - prepay required)

Isnt that the same cost as the XLR8 pulley; what would be the benefit of having a new one designed and manufactured? I'm also interested in the "slight" under drive pulley XLR8 advertises. Puesdo any opinions on under drive pulleys? XLR8 claims although it under drives, you can still use all your electronics?

i'm not a big fan of the underdrives, but no, not sure about it.
Everything on that car is electric. The Navi, all the sensors, the power steering, etc. The last thing I want to do is underdrive my electrical system.
You really only "underdrive" it at idle with those, after you're in the revs - you're turning everything fast enough to generate accessory power.
Basically, it's putting smaller diameter pulleys on the accessories, to reduce resistance and improve throttle response. This comes at the expense of spinning them slower through the RPM range.
The lightweight ones reduce the drag in the same fashion, just lightening the load of the material being turned (and yes, lighter and smaller diameter would be a better load reducer than just lighter).
If the 914930 / 914931 crank pulleys work out - at MSRP of $139 - AND if they are much lighter than the stock, I'd say that's not a bad buy. I'm 99% sure the 3.7 TL pulley was already lightened by 3lbs over the prior gen, and that the accessory pulleys were also lightened in this fashion. I know the RALCO 914930 weighs 3lbs. The old J32 ones were quite heavy, like 20lbs if I remember properly. I don't know about the last J35 weights (or current ones).

Haven't yet, waiting for new resonators to come in, not sure why but the last pair I put in feel like its choking my exhaust, if you have a strong enough impact gun(I use a 3/4" gun at work), and a strong air compressor, you can do the pulley yourself(or use a breaker bar and a crank pulley holder tool, there's also the breaker bar vs the ground method, but I don't recommend that). Overall the install should take you 10mins max.

I have a harbor freight 650 ft/lb dual hammer impact gun, i'm hoping it's up to the job. I may give this a try!
I'm a 3G but this seems like the most relevant thread on it these days. Keep us posted on your install and how you feel about it, please.

The harbor freight 3/4 gun will work fine as long as the air supply is sufficeint enough. I use it on a daily basis lol

Some of the battery ones aren't bad actually. I got tired of airhoses, and compressor noise, and waiting on tanks to fill and bought an electric 3/4 a couple years ago. It's craftsman, was only $80 and the thing is a workhorse. One cord - relatively lightweight, and all the torque you want without worrying about oiling .
