it sounds like the SRI don't do much except make the car sound louder... but lose power.
I recall guys on the RL forum who put on SRI reported they felt their cars were slower too.... most said it wasn't worth the money and woudl not do it if they could go back in time....
a comptech intake - maybe that is somehow better? haven't seen one yet though..

I don't think that it's ever been documented that the Takeda SRI has lost power. Of course, if people believe that it doesn't make additional power, that's one thing, but through the laws of dramatic responses, people have slowly but surely went from the opinions of "I didn't feel much power increase in the Takeda SRI" and continued to repeat and dramatize these reports to where it's now being reported "the Takeda SRI loses power!"
Also, I've documented on my Torque program that while the car is in motion with a Takeda SRI, that the Intake Air Temperature was showing only 8 degrees hotter than the outside ambient air temperature (this was all done on a car that had been running for 20 minutes). This is not enough to retard timing to lose power. Hell, it's actually probably the same temperature increase as the stock intake will get you.

Any time someone throws just an intake on something and says that they felt any sort of gain or loss in power, especially on an NA car, you can be sure they're full of crap. Even if you sway +-4hp on a 3800lb 305hp car, you're not going to be able to "feel it."

In addition, some aftermarket intakes actually generate a dip in hp at the lower rpm range before start gaining additional hp at the mid to high rpm range. So it is always helpful to look at the dyno chart rather than just reading the claimed numbers.

I also noticed an increase in MPG with my Takeda, although I did install it at the same time as I did my 3rd cat delete pipe. Previously, with just a J-Pipe installed I got 27.8MPG as my highest recorded MPG reading. After I installed these two items, my MPG jumped up to new record high of 29.5MPG on the same route with roughly the same outside temperatures.

^^^ It does! I love the growl and the looks that I get as those RPM's creep up. It's also nice that it's only loud when you want it to be. I took a drive by video a couple weeks ago but my home PC is jacked up so I can't upload it. I will in the near future though.

I've never seen more than 25.6 driving max of 65 mph.
I'd love to swap some factory 18s and see the difference.

The factory 18" 's are still heavy.
Get some light-weight 19" wheels and light-weight tires, and you'll appreciate the improvement in mpg.

For that you'll need to check with Vossen about the weight of your particular Vossen model.

I can't speak directly about this, but I replaced my stock 19's with 20" XO's / Hankooks and the weight was exactly the same. The stock wheels are HEAVY at 32 lbs (at least the 19's are, not sure of the 18's but I'd expect similar numbers).

Just received my K&N Drop In Filter today. Model 33-2403. Simple install and took me 10 minutes. After installing the drop in filter, I start up my car and found a reasonable low end torque after 5 minute of warm up. I will find out about if there any increase of MPG as I just did my full fill up this morning. Even though it didn't give you a deep growling sound like any short ram or cai, but it is not bad for something which is about $45 SHIPPED

I run this in my Maxima, and I think it is effective (butt dyno). Also, over the long run, it will save you $ on filters, as this is reusable. After x miles, clean it, oil it, put it back in and drive. I'm using the OEM filter in the TL for now.

i do agree with the re-usable factor, but i think i can shed out 25 bucks for a new oem filter every 4-6 months.
ive heard from many guys that used k&n that oil gets in to the MAF as the filter is oil based.. i will have to see in a long run if these actually damage the MAF.. but im leaning more towards dry filters.
