Any Chip Mod for the TL

Anyone know if there is a chip modification for the 4G TL? A co-worker chipped his bimmer and states that he got ~60 more horses and ~65 more ft-lb of torque. He paid $800 for the chip, which he had to install himself. He said that it's a special one that BMW techs won't notice anything within the electronics - apparently the auto manufacturer's don't like this and will VOID ALL WARRANTIES!!!!

Your buddy's bimmer is probably turbo'd which means you can chip it to increase the HP like that. The motor in the 4G TL is already extremely efficient, there is no chip that exists that would do anything like that. Turbo'd and supercharged cars are easy to increase the HP of. N/A cars are not (without throwing a turbo or supercharger on it)

yea a turbo'd car will get the most from a chip due to the increased PSI most the time as long as the hardware supports it i.e. waste gate and pipes big enough

Don't waste your money, I can 100% guarantee that it will do nothing but make your bank account smaller.

Edit: Yes - google is your friend:

Thx!, Glad I haven't ordered one, thought it was pretty cheap for 69. but From what I have researched so far Acura has some type of lock in the ecu board? You can't put a different chip in?

It's not really an Acura thing, there are not really any quality chips for N/A engines that give you that huge boost that chips for turbo cars will do.
