Yet another DVD-A question

I really love the DVD-A sound, but hate the lack of available titles. I also seem to find much confusion when trying to locate DVD-A disks. Case in point. I searched for DVD-A disk of Gershwin. Amazon reseller stated it was a DVD-A, but upon receipt it is a Digital Audio Disk. Seems that the audio files are in .VOB format and this will not play in my Acura.

I have had this same problem with other disks I have purchased. I would like to convert these .VOB files to DVD-A compatible files and burn to a new disk.

Seems like I have two questions. What software will successfully convert these .VOB files to a HIGH resolution audio format. Second, what software will take these new files and burn them to a DVD-A disk.

I have a Mac.

Whew. Thanks

There are a lot of guys here that know a great deal more than me, but I believe what you've got is a collection of files ripped from a dvd movie. A "VOB" file is a dvd "video object"; you can likely use something like Nero or Roxio, or a free burner, to make a playable dvd, but I suspect it won't play in your car.

I've successfully burned playable dvd audio from "AOB" files contained within an "AUDIO_TS" folder. But again, that doesn't help you much.

I agree that you have to be extra careful when dealing with online resellers, as they often don't know what they're takking about. Even the disc labels themselves can be misleading. Case in point, Leonard Cohen's "Live in London" is listed as DVD audio and DVD video, but it will not play in an audio player.

I started a thread called DTS Music here in TL, you might find the thread helpful. I have purchased a few Audio DVD's & DTS CD's and have had pretty good success.

If there's no picture of the disc package, then I wouldnt buy it. I always look for the DVD AUDIO emblem on the dvd case.
