White dots on Nav maps

I have noticed a series of white dots that parallel routes that I frequent, but are not on the road itself. At first there were just a few near where I turn into my neighborhood and I thought they were an intermittent creek in the field near there, but now they are growing in number and seem to follow the routes in town that I take going to work and home. I cannot find any reference in the on screen menus or in the owner manual. Any thoughts?

My guess is those are the breadcrumbs. They appear when you are on a road that is not on the map. In this case the GPS may be off a bit and think you are riding next to the road instead of on it. As the referenced thread says, turn off breadcrumbs and see if it still does it.
