Want a navigation in my base 2009 TL

Can anyone tell me what would be my best option for me on installing a navigation system in my base 2009 TL? After market? How it would look? anyone performed this type of project?

it would be too much money and work because the dash was designed for base non tech structure I don't think it would be worth it for investing thousands of dollars and rewiring ..imo though your better off getting a tech model kee in mind you might have shortages down th eline and other complications because it was not initially tech again imo...

found it

really not that hard to install, just buy it and buy a mount.

now if you were referring to a OEM system.. then i would suggest for you to completely drop that idea. it will be very costly.. and you should have bought a tech in the first place if you wanted it.

Or perhaps trade in your 2009 base TL for another 2009 with the tech trim.

Google Maps, Smart Phone.

I don't have NAV in my new truck, use the Droid phone for all my NAV needs. Actually makes sense as it updates without the need for Stealership intervention.

I gotta agree with Marco here (and pretty much everyone else who has chimed in). You're better off with an aftermarket, or even just your phone. The only real benefits to the OEM, on-board system is (a) no cords or need to charge, (b) no need to mount it (or hide it so it's not stolen), and (c) it's there when you need it.

Nobody can give you any guidance on an install, as I suspect nobody has bothered.

Besides, honestly, it's not the best nav system in the world. And updating is expensive. Heck, for half the price, you can call me and I'll tell you where to go.

this is a prime example of what happens when you cheap out.. you eventually end up spending more money than you originally though.

next time.. spend the extra few thousand and get the better package.

good learning experience for all future buyers.

Let me at least give you some positive options. Everyone is always so quick to judge. Bottom line is you have the car you have and you do have options. I am the VP of a large car audi chain. We did and aftermarket navi in my 09. Check out the link:https://acurazine.com/forums/fourth-...r-navi-778861/

Now it's not for everyone as it does take some work and it does cost a bit. However it comes on awesome and you get what you want.

There is also another really cool option. A company by the name of Apptronics has a replacement rear view mirror that has navi built in. You can also add back up camera, radar, and even dvd recording. Pretty damn cool and you don't need to change your factory unit. I think the base unit retails for like 750.00.App-Tronics, Smart Nav 5

Hope that helps.
