Unplayable File
Has anyone tried to connect their iphone and get a message that reads "unplayable file" on the car's audio screen? It happens to me every time, I have to unplug the USB ipod interface and retry with the car radio on. I think it has to be a glitch on my phone? unless you guys are having the same issue?
Same issues here. Ever since the new 3.0 update, I've been having at least 2 issues a day as I unplug and plug in my iPhone at least 4 times when I'm out and about running errands or at clients.
First issue, the iPod started to play music then just stopped. So I unplugged it, then plugged it back in, then all good.
Other times I've had no audio but the read out still displays the info on the Nav screen.
The positive is the Bluetooth audio is stable and has good quality and range.

I just leave my iPod classic in all the time now, its easier than trying to screw with the 3gs while driving, I'll use it for BT audio and phone calls, but generally its unplugged
According to the dealership they haven't heard complaints about this. My iPhone (original) and iPhone 3g both do this now with the 3.0 upgrade. I downgraded them back to 2.1 software and it works fine. So this tells me that Acura needs to software update the nav system to correct this. --- Please call your dealership and complain so they fix it! ---
Thanks for all the input! I wanted to know in case I needed to restore my iphone.
I think the trick is to power the car radio before connecting the USB interface to the iphone, it's been working on the first try for me thus far.

It's going to be interesting to see how 3.1 effects things further. It's due out soon and one of the items is voice control over bluetooth. I doubt there is anyway to make this work with hands free in the TL, but that would be sweet if you could send play commands for the BT audio.
It's hard for two company's (Apple/Acura) to be on the same page. While someone is thinking of telling Acura to get it right, I'm thinking Apple should be more backwards compatible as the iPod functions were much better before. I've also had about 3 dropped calls in high cell sight areas since the 3.0 update? I look forward to 3.1 as the upgrade after the big one usually sets things right. Oh and I'm still getting the the quick drop. When you get into the car and the iPod "resumes" play and then drops out in 4 secs. Odd one.
I'm not complaining, it's still the bomb when it all comes together!

I to am having the same issues with the 16GB Iphone 3G since ugrading to 3.0 firmware. I have to plug the iphone into the USB cable sometimes multiple times before it will read it and even then it will occasionally lose sync with the iphone. Very annoying and I hope this is fixed soon.
Unplayable file usually show up if you connect it while on the videos screen. Also if you are note getting audio, tap the little "B" bar on the bottom as it is probably playing over HFL instead of the dock connector...
hope that helps.

FWIW: I am a service advisor for Acura and am having the same problem with my Iphone 3g and 09 SH-AWD TL. I mentioned something about it to my Acura rep when he was in last week and he said he would pass it on as he has not heard of this problem yet.
I just got off the phone with tech line and told them about the problem, they have not heard about it yet, and now they are aware of it and said they will be working on it ASAP. They suggest that: the TL was built around the older 2.0 OS, when the 3.0 update came out everything changed and the iphone would no longer communicate with the TL. The problem is as soon as Acura comes out with an update, Apple will have an update that will be ahead of what Acura does. This is one reason the music link acessory was discontinued on the older TLs.
I'll post any more updates as I hear about them.

Well, I have had enough with this issue, and the sluggishness (it has been slow since the upgrade as well) of my 3G Iphone since the 3.0 update. It took some patience but I was able to downgrade the firmware back to 2.2.1. At the end of the day, I would rather have the phone work and have it sync properly with my car than a few extra features I didnt really use anyways. It is clear to me that this update pushed the 3G beyond its processor capability. I beleive that it was likely timing out when trying to sync with the car as the operating system while good for the 3GS was just too much for the last generation of the iphone. I also wasnt going to hold my breath waiting for Acura either. I had called the dealer who called the tech line a few times over the past few months and they just kept saying they didnt know a thing about it and noone had raised this (right). Anyways, hopefully they can find a way to resolve this. As a suggestion, I would not attempt the firmware downgrade unless you are fairly computer savvy as it is fairly involved.
It was good to hear that I was not alone on this issue.
Thanks Everyone

FWIW: I got a call from techline yesterday asking if I unplug/replug the iphone in does it help. it did not. then they told me to leave it plugged in and turn off the car and restart leaving plugged in, did not change anything. I told them I volunteer to be the guinea pig to try a few things to get this resolved. I'll keep ya posted if I hear anything.
Is your Bluetooth on? Because I still have issues with 3.1 installed on 3GS. I have to reconnect the iPhone because the Bluetooth interrupts the connection, after that it's all good, but really frustrating as the data port on the iPhone is taking a beating.
When I turn off the Bluetooth on the iPhone is perfect. The odd one is when I have it turned off and the iPod is running fine, then turned on the Bluetooth at a stop light, I lose audio on the iPod. The visual is still there and the track is running, but just lost audio.

I don't know man, you're a lucky one I guess. I've been struggling with it and at this point I'm just used to plugging it in twice. I ran a series of tests, like pluggin' it in with the Nav off, WIFI off, BT off, XM on, FM on, etc... and it still drops audio. Oh well, it's a bit more work, but still happy with it.
just to restart this thread, still a problem with my ipod touch...for the most part it works fine, just leave it plugged in, but sometimes when i disconnect it to add some music, when i put it back in the car i get the unplayable file until i plug it in and unplug it 50 times....
