Thumbstick Help

Hey guys, I'm having a weird problem with my thumbstick. No matter what I do, most of the albums on there display the tracks out of order. I renamed all songs so format is like this:

01-Track Name

Some albums display correctly, most don't. I even went into the properties of one of the albums' songs and made sure the Meta Tags had the track numbers listed properly. Not sure what else to do. Could it be GraceNote or something? Any ideas? Thanks guys.

I noticed even the actual folders are displayed out of alphabetical order. In fact, it even seems to completely seperate by genre. All my Rock albums are all together (but out of alphabetical order), and then comes all the Rap albums, also out of order?! How is it sorting like this?? It's driving me crazy. On my computer, everything is sorted alphabetically, as it should be. Once I bring it out to the car, it's all out of whack.

What are you using to edit the meta tags? Some programs do not show all of the properties, there is a lot of information embedded.

Just windows explorer, right click on file/properties/details tab. Any recommendations for an alternative?

Even better, I just plugged in my iPod lol. It loads onto the screen much faster, and displays the songs in the proper order without me having to go crazy. Plus it's twice the size. Unfortunately, I spent $70 on this thumbstick and now it's pretty useless. Thanks Acura!

Just curious I did a test on this, I have a USB 1GB stick that I loaded with one folder with Mp4 files, one song AIFF by itself not in a folder, and one mp3 not in a folder. So the stick has 3 items: 1 folder with 15 songs in it, one aiff file and one MP3.

1) the AIFF file did not show up in the Nav screen
2) the MP3 file by itself in the folder did play and display all metadata, song title, artist, and times
3) the folder with 15 MP4 songs, all played, but displayed 30 songs, one "ghost" track before each song, a typical PC characteristic as my stick is FAT 32 PC formated.

The loading was slower that the HDD, disc or iPod. I couldn't imagine using this with a 16GB stick, it would be so slow. Hydro, why not just make a MP3 DVD?

I dump all of my MP3s on to my thumb drive in a folder called Music. My music loads up instantly, I have no ghost tracks, and as long as my meta data is correct, that picks up fine.

CL, I think the reason I got ghost tracks on my Flash drive, is because of the format, it is MPEG, but not layer 3. Do you have any MP4 songs you can try? I'm curious if it happens on anyone eles's TL. Thanks.

You have full albums? Or just random single songs thrown into one folder? If it's the latter, it would not emulate either of my issues, one being slow load time, and the more troublesome one being that 90% of my albums have the tracks out of order.

And Mode, I said no to discs because that's what I used in my last car and if I use it again, I'll feel like I'm not progressing in my technology lol. The car has multiple access points for music, all of which SHOULD be less annoying and more progressive than burning discs. I'd like to take advantage of them if I can, know what I mean?

I hear ya Hydro, progress is good and burning discs is time consuming. But you can't beat the cheap sound of a MP3 DVD. Granted the quality is not as good, but if my iPhone goes down, I have a back up with the MP3 DVD that I'm making. I'm setting it up to clone my iPhone iPod section. Of course, I'll only be able to get a 4th of it on DVD, but I won't be without music if anything should happen with my iPhone.
