Old navi software?

Anybody else thinking they have outdated navi mapping software? Purchased TL AWD late November. I think my software is the 2007 version. Major highway here that opened October 2007 not shown. Garmin and others had it mapped by mid 2008. Dealer has no answers, Acura client services says I have the latest version. If true, so much for Acura advanced technology. I'll just have to put my Garmin portable on the dash this year.

My guess is it takes 2-3 years form somehting new to make it to a NAV software in a car. My guess is whle you may have 2008 NAV software the maps are probably 1-2 years old, it takes time to collect the new data and get it it verified and enter it in the mapping software. Virtually nothing in the car is current, they start designing these things 3-4 years before production and I assume some things get locked down 6-12 months before car #1 ships. If they started building these in July that means they probably locked everything down in early 2008 unless it was a major necessity.

Yes, possibly. I'm thinking it has more to do with Acura switching nav manufacturers for the TL only, from Alpine Electronics to Navteq.

navteq has always provided the maps. These maps are loaded into ALPINE's Graphical user interface and then sold.

thats the difference between a realtime update like a garmin vrs a software update like navteq....just because they opened a highway in 07 doesnt mean your 09 car is going to have the update...we are waiting for navteq, and whoever is manufacturing the discs....they want your money and they are going to extract it from you a little at a time...
