Sticky joystick collar
Sticky joystick collar
I pretty much love my sound system on my 4g tl, but this past winter, which has been cold around here, I started to notice that in cold weather the joystick becomes extremely balky. I should be more specific, and state it's not the joystick action, but the collar which rotates around the joystick, which is a function you need to scroll through song lists, for example. should I spray it with a little of what we used to use on old analog television channel changers--"tuner wash?" or should I just bring it back to the dealer. I apologize if this subject has come up on another thread-- I searched before posting this
Under warranty? They'll cover it. They swapped mine out which was having similar issues (got stuck/hard to move) and they covered it under a loyalty clause (don't think it's normally covered though). Depends on your your relationship w/ your dealer.
Well, I brought it to the dealer where I bought it, which is not close to me. They couldn't reproduce the condition, but at least it is in Acura's system now, so if it really jams up, they'll cover it.
Make sure you use a low PSI for that pressure washer, too high and you'll damage the internals.
But for-real, just talk to the dealer. They'll take care of it for you. They replaced my shift nob because the leather got scratched up, replaced the middle selector nob cause of your issue, and also replaced the paddle shifters due to the coating wearing off. I went in w/ all 3 of these at once with an oil change ontop of it. They had no problem, had the car for 2 days because they had to get parts shipped.

Update,
I brought it back to the dealer today. They gave me a loaner, a new RLX, which was nice, but it was a FWD model.
Anyway, all it needed was a cleaning. The service writer even had the nerve to suggest that I had spilled coffee on it. I said to him, "Did you see how clean the car was?" ( I am an obsessive detailer and never eat or drink or let anyone else do so in the car.) MY QUESTION; WHY COULDN'T THEY CLEAN IT LAST TIME? instead, I wasted hours going to and from the dealer only to get a lame "could not reproduce problem."
I swear it is really frustrating dealing with dealers. Curry Acura, get your act together.

This is interesting...
I find my selector knob (or whatever it's called) a little hard to turn.
I don't have much to compare it to aside from the loaner RDX the dealership gave me last week. On the RDX, the knob was much much easier to turn.
Should they both feel the same ?
Thanks

For all I know the TL has a more resistant wheel but mine really felt like if I didn't do something about it, I would have eventually had to pay for a repair in a few years.
