Problems with iPhone 5S staying connected

Have a 12 TL with tech pkg and just got my 5s a week ago. I connect it with the cable and it is recognized initially but after a coupe minutes if I want to change the podcast/song by pressing the audio button, screen than shows no listings..cant change selection. Basically not connected. Even though music will continue to play. Bluetooth not a problem.

Also, had ios7 on my old iphone4 with no issues.

Anyone else having the same issue?

I upgraded from an iPhone 4 with ios7 to an iPhone 5s recently. I have had zero problems with the connection but I only use bluetooth. Why would you want to use the cable when bluetooth is so easy?

Do have an Apple cable or a generic connector? Friend of mine bought cheap thunderbolt to USB adapter on a Kia and it didn't work. iPhone 4s was ok but not iPhone 5. Just a thought.

Thanks for the replies.

I use the cable because it tends to sound better and ease of control for music / podcast selection... I found using the control knob on the center-stack easier to use while driving.

I do use the supplied apple cable.

It works at first but after a few minutes it just loses its connection.
