where is the drive...in my 07 it was in the trunk, i have looked in the owners manual, and the nav manual and cant seem to find it...

The 2010's have HDD based navigation systems, it doesn't use a DVD.

 

Yea it uses the DVDrom in dash to copy the map into the Hard Drive

 

so i am supposed to have a disc somewhere??

 

? No.. they dont give you one. And to upgrade you take it in the shop and they do it.

 

ok, thanks...i was just courious, i was on the acura care website, and it takes me to acuranavi.com and shows the red disc for our cars, and i went to look at mine, and couldnt find a drive or a disc anywhere....

my parts dept just told me that there are no dvd updates anymore, its all done by satilite, but the nav owners manual clearly states that update discs are availible to order?? so my parts dept doesnt know jack, about the nav system, or the book is wrong...

so who knows for sure, no disc, or disc for updates, and forsure you dont get a disc with the car??

 

I did the same thing.

 

You don't get a disk with a car - if you want to update I believe the update needs to happen via USB - takes about 2 hours to do the full upgrade to the Nav. Search in here for other threads about the update.

yes the 4G TL navi is hard drive based - no spinning DVD in the trunk or under the seat like older acuras

Yes the navi is updatable - but not via usb or satellite

vinnier6 on the acura nav web site where you saw the info about the red disc - thats the update disc you can buy - you insert the disc in your cd/dvd player - and it updates the hard drive nav from there.
