Name of contact doesn't always show on incoming call?
I've noticed in my first day with the 09 that sometimes when I receive an incoming call, the contact's number and name from my phonebook comes up on the screen--and sometimes they do not. I'm not sure if this is an issue with how the numbers are formatted in my phonebook or what; they all look the same to me--area code plus the seven digit number. Any ideas on this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I just ran a test myself. I called from my cordless land line while in the garage, and sure enough the first time it said retrieving call information, but didn't display my ID. Then I called a second time, and this time it Bmode home? Odd how I'm in the uploaded address book too, so why didn't it recognize me the first time? Does the number have to be in the que?

Weird. May experience is the same. Seems like a bug in the system. My phone is recognizing all the calls from the phonebook, and since the entries in the car are clearly identical. I can't seem to discern a pattern. I thought maybe it was because the calls were coming in 1+areacode+7 digit number, whereas when I was outside my local area code (picked up my car at a dealer a couple hours away) I didn't notice it doing that. But, that shouldn't make a difference.
If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I thought it was very cool that the name was popping up when an incoming call came in, and now it's a crapshoot.

Well that can't be it, if it works properly once, why doesn't it work all the time? That's the issue at hand, not the cell phone type or manufacturer. And I used a land line on the other side to call my cell phone, so that's pretty solid. Hmm?

Mine does the same, and it's annoying. Even more annoying is that it doesn't seem to display an incoming call if you're already on a call (aka call waiting). Can this possibly be?? I mean, the ringer goes off, but it doesn't display anything. I need to look at my phone to see who's on the other line, which kind of defeats the purpose of "hands-free" lol =P

While on the phone and receiving a incoming call I just get a beep, I too have to look at my iPhone to see the caller ID of that caller. It's not a perfect system by any means, but I guess what systems is?

My 04 and 07 both did that with two different Sony Ericsson phones and my Treos. Was always a feature. Maybe it was just your phones.
I have not received a call waiting call in the new car yet, so I haven't confirmed it doesn't work the same here, but someone said it did not.

Well, the name of contact issue is definitely a glitch. I tried changing a number in my phonebook by adding a 1 before the area code (all the numbers in my phone have area codes, even local ones, since I travel frequently). That did not solve it. I got two calls today from the same person while in the car; the first time his name did not come up; the second time it did. Strange.

I got a call today while on the other line, and there was no notification by the car--just the tone my phone transmits. This is a definite deficiency/step backwards from the 04 and 07 HFL system. Very disappointing. The name not showing up when a call comes in (I haven't had one contact name show in the last 3 days) is a bug. The call waiting issue is simply a design flaw. Why would they delete a common sense feature that has been included since HFL came out?
Someone earlier said they think Acura changed vendors on this, and I think that's right. It looks very much like the system Infiniti uses.
I'm going to call client services to complain. Others should too. This COULD be fixed with a reflash/software update, not that they will, but if they hear from us at least it might be addressed in future models.
Dumb move, Acura! This is the first thing I really don't like about the car. That, and the fact that the high beams aren't xenon anymore.

Nope. Coming from the 07 Infiniti G35x, the system is COMPLETELY different. The call waiting worked perfectly, and there was no integrated phone book to speak of. You could set some voice IDs, but that's about it. And whatever calls came in, the caller ID (and call waiting) displayed with no problem.
This one seems totally different, in form and function (or lack thereof).

I have AT&T and my data works perfectly with AcuraLink. I don't think that it is a problem with the phone. I am using a Sony Ericsson; they have consistently been the phones that have worked best with HFL. They were the first to allow contact import, for instance.
Perhaps the better question is, is there anyone out there with an 09 who is getting the phone number of an imcoming call-waiting call to show up on the Navi display?
The issue with the contact name not showing is clearly an issue with the car, as it is checking against the phonebook that has been imported. The phone would not be transmitting contact info to the HFL; just the incoming number.

I have AT&T and the data connection and bluetooth music link do not work with the Iphone, neither 3G or 1st gen. Phone book import and calling works fine. I spoke with both my Acura dealer and AT&T and was told to try a different phone, like the Sony Ericsson. I am willing to bet that it is a phone-car issue, not a car issue.

Same here
I very rarely, but sometimes, get the name with the caller ID.
I never get visual notification for call waiting.
Perhaps we should list our handsets, since this system seems to differ according to model and manufacturer.
Mine: Blackberry 8310 (soon to be trying a Nokia E71).

Okay so maybe it's Apple that needs to resolve the data issue with Honda, as the iPhone is just everywhere? We have three users already using the TL and iPhone. Me, DrEvil, and CRXB! I'm sure there are others out there?

I am using a Sony Ericsson K510i on AT&T.
The data plan is used for AcuraLink. Right now I'm just getting feature messages everyday, telling you about features of the car. But, you also can do over-the-air diagnostics if you get a trouble code (did this once with my 07 and it was very cool) and get info on service appointments sent directly to the car if you make them online.

bb curve
Well I have complained about this before but here we go again:
I have a Blackberry cruve, which works fine most of the time at the beginning, but now for some odd reason, I get connected to the navi bluetooth 50% of the time. Meanning if I start car, I am connected and get 100% working features. I start the car again, and the curve does not get connected to the navi bluetooth, but it does get connected to the console bluetooth. So when this happens, I cannot make calls but can receive calls.
So, bluetooth navi, is definately buggy, on my 07 had no problems with the same phone. BUMMER ACURA, real BUMMER.
QUESTION TO ALL MEMBERS on 09's:
If you have a curve, do you have simular problem, IF NOT, please state if phonebook is loaded. I am thinking that it may be a memory problem.

Igo, I had similar problems with my Curve for a month. The initial start up was perfect, but when I stopped the car, I would lose Bluetooth connection, and had to re-initiate again, this was on the 3G TL. I think it's in the Curve? I wish i could check but I'm on the iPhone now, this phone is perfect other than the Data plan not working, but that's not that important at this time.
