Has anyone come up with a fix to make phone calls easier on the 2012 models with tech package? It seems ridicules to me to have to turn on the nav screen to make a call and then jump through hoops to actually make a call. In my 2006 tl w/tech, all I had to do was push the call button and tell it to call someone. This new system is not really hands free. It is a pain. I am not happy. I am hoping that I am doing something really dumb and just have not figured this out. Steps for me to make a phone call: 1. push the call button. 2. push the enter button to turn on nav screen. 3. push the phone button again. 4. push the call button and hope to heck I can remember either the speed dial number, which most times I can't. 5. Push the talk button to tell it "more speed dial numbers. 6.maybe by now I am connected or have to find the number on the screen myself, which makes this a hands on, eyes off the road system, rather then a hands free system. What gives? This is safe????? Needless to say I rarely make calls. What a waste.

 

why don't you add voice tags to your contacts in your speed dial, then
1) press talks
2) say "call (insert voice tag here) "

-OR- just command the car to call the phone number, it recognizes numbers pretty well

 

I tried that. It doesn't seem to want to work that way in this car. I had the '06 TL w/nav and it worked fine in that one. But this one just doesn't work that way. I wish it did.
