iPod interface TL 2010 Tech

Hi,

I have the 2010 TL Tech model.

I hate hate HATE the iPod interface that Acura has. I don't know if they've updated that software of theirs ,but it's pure junk (IMHO). I have to spin and spin the navi control to go all the way down to artists or albums towards the end of the alphabet..

1. So, is there a way I can connect the iPod AND use the iPod's own controls instead of the car's? (while using the usb connection, not bluetooth)

2. If not, what do you guys recommend as far as being able to connect my iPod or iPhone to the car stereo so the I can use the idevice's control AND have the highest sound quality (usb connection)? I'm not sure if I'm explaining myself as I should.

Thanks anyone in advance!

Sorry, first time to this forum and already goofed up..

When you say it works fine with it, what do you mean? Can you control your iPod directly form the iPod itself when contacted to the stereo with the USB? That's what I'm looking for since I don't like the Acura's iPod interface..

Thanks again

I have an 09 model w/tech and I plug my iPhone in. From there, I can still control my music on my phone or on the screen.

My iPod classic gets "taken over" when I plug it into the USB port so that I can no longer control things on the screen. I'm then left with using the acura's interface.

With iPhone 5, it's problematic. When I had iPhone 4, it worked exactly as you say. Plug it in and it worked. But with 5, it's not consistent at all, and I frequently loose the sound and USB connection. So I'm left with using bluetooth only with the iPhone 5. Which is fine, but is not ideal.

I would really like to use the iPad classic like an iPhone, and control it from the screen not the car.

Lastly, what interface do you guys recommend for getting video out from iPhone 5 to the car? I read bunch of threads and no individual item seemed like the clear cut winner…

Thanks

There is another thread about taking the video out from iphone5 -- the NavTool ... however, its a lighting to HDMI > then > getting a convertor to change the feed from HDMI to Composite.

As for the iPod Classic, i wish i can help you. But with the iphone 5 i had no problems whatsoever. I can control the ipod feature from my phone and from the dash.

Assuming it's not as good… but not sure how much worse. I guess it's the decoder on the iPhone vs on the Acura plus possibly more direct connection to the speakers from the Acura decoder.. Just guessing, not sure what the difference is in reality. Anyone?
