iPhone 6 Placement

Hello everyone- I have been lurking here for a while but this is my first post since joining a few years ago when I had my first TL. I now have a 2013 and absolutely love it, with one issue that has been driving me nuts.

When I first got my 13, I had an iphone 5 which rested perfectly (sideways) on top of the compartment shown below just below the radio. The edges kept it intact at all times and it was perfect placement, especially when using nav on my phone.

The 6 is obviously bigger, but it is so close to fitting in fact it rests well in the same spot until I take a turn above 20mph and then it ends up on the passenger floor or under the seat.

I know about the pro clip, but I dont want it to get bumped by /impede on any passengers and I don't believe in a/c clips as I dont want to block a/c or heat, and I don't like the phone so high up.

I realize this might seem ridiculous but am somewhat OCD and really liked the way my 5 fit, and have been daydreaming about some way of keeping my 6 intact in the same spot by way of a clip or something sticky that won't look too ghetto. I even thought abut velcro but I am not going to have velcro on the back of my phone at all times lol. Another thought was to have some sort of clip coming from underneath the compartment door shown in the picture, but I have yet to try anything.

Based on the above, I wanted to see if anyone is as crazy as me and came up with a solution, or alternatively has any ideas of something that might work well.

tldr: Im crazy and how can I get my phone to stay intact sideways in the area shown in the picture.

Thanks in advance for any feedback or ideas!
Mike

I have a case for my phone that is three pieces; a rubber protector, a plastic part that clips over that, and another plastic part with a clip that goes on top of the other two. It cost me like $5 on Amazon. Maybe you could stick with your velcro idea but put the velcro on the back of the clip. Then only use that part of the case when you're in your car. Just an idea...

The one pictured below isn't the exact same one I have but it's very similar. I'm sure they make one for the iPhone too.

Doesn't it fit in the little pop out tray in the center arm rest? My 5s used to be there all the time. But I never had a case on it so that seemed like the best place. I just put my 6 with Apple leather case on top of the slider that covers the cup holders. Or inlay it sideways in my door where you grab to close it.

My cup holder. Or on top of the cover when the cup holder is covered.

i took a thin piece of sheet metal, wrapped it around the trim right next to the area you kept your iphone 5, drilled a hole into it, attached a ebay mount on there with a bolt and keep my Samsung galaxy note 4 (5.7 inch screen) on there.

Thanks everyone! It does fit on the cupholder slide out tray, but harder to see the nav there versus my iphone5 spot which I grew to prefer. I think Im going to try a 3 piece case and a small piece of velcro- it might look odd, but my phone will be covering it when Im in the car anyways..

Use a non-skid case.

I have used such cases for many years and my iPhones don't move from their placement. Currently using one such case made by Speck for my 6. I can place the phone on flat surface and tilt the surface up to nearly a 60-degree angle before the phone starts to slide off.

If you don't use the CD player, this works perfectly for me:
