How to make my Base TL sound better than TECH?

Hey guys

as a soon to be TL owner non tech ( I know I know...) what is involved to make it sound better? I know the sky is the limit but the most practical, cost efficient method would be what?

Can I just get an aftermarket amp to give the system more power? leaving the stock speakers/sub?

whats the general consensus?

thanks !

Buy a TL Tech. In the end you'll spending a lot of money on audio that could have gotten you navi, els, 30gig hd, and other stuff.

Agree with ParaSurfer1979 - if you are able, invest in a Tech Package or wait for one to come on market.

While it may be possible to do what you are asking, you would have to wait fo someone who has done it or higher a professional and be ready to invest $$$ in high end equipment.
I think the tech pckg gives you the most bang for the buck and is the best solution.

I own a 2012 Acura TL Base FWD and the dealer helped me optimize the sound with the base audio system and the tracks sound a lot better. For tracks with a lot of bass you need to turn the subwoofer way down and adjust the bass to the max level that doesn't make the trunk rattle. Then you turn the volume way up and the quality is pretty amazing! Play songs through CD or USB for the best quality. In the future I am considering talking to someone at BestBuy...they can typically tell what you are missing. CarToys is another good place to go.

let's say, being a base owner, i'm not interested in Nav, 30gig HD and everything else, and all I really want is to improve sound quality, without taking the avaliable route (turning the sub down), what other options could I use to increase power/sound to the avaliable units?

You could install some dynomat to dampen the vibration of the sub. I'm considering that.

a full custom sound system is needed. the els system is hard to beat...

you will need high end speakers, amps, wires, capacitors and you need to sound dampeners all around your car to sound BETTER than the els system.

the tech comes with more than just a navi and 30gb hard drive..

push start, trunk release button, 440 Watt ELS system (base has 276 watt), 10 speaker (base only has 8)

It's hard to make a 8 speaker set-up fill the sound of ten speakers. Again swapping 8 speakers for components and 2-way speakers, dynamat, sound processor, amp, & installation costs you'll wish you had gotten a TL-tech. After trading my 08' Accord EX-L w/navigation and custom audio I said never again... I trade cars too fast that all that work isn't worth doing. If I wasn't A family friend of the Acura dealer, I'd get raped with trade-in. You'll pay a LOT more aftermarket vs. Buying the car with those options and a lot more included. That's why I refuse to settle for a car that's exactly what I want.
