Help with adding wallpaper via usb

Hi All,

I read all the posts on adding wallpapers and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm using JPG only each file is under 6gb, im using a Sandisk 4gb cruzer (btw, when i put mp3s on it the car plays them fine). I tried putting them in a folder called wallpapers and i also put them directly onto the usb drive and neither worked. I also went as far as trying to upload them from my ipod nano but that didn't work either. Any suggestions? Ideas?

I sat in my car for a 1/2 hour with my laptop trying all different ways to do it, but its just not working. I don't get it...so fustrated

I have a cruzer also, I ended up doing a quick format (fat) and it did the trick. Make sure you don't put them into a seperate directory, only in the root.

when you say put them in a separate directory only in a root, what do you mean? Directly onto the drive, not in a folder?

Yes, they must be in the root directory and not in a seperate folder (like directly on your C drive in a PC).

I had the same issue. Seem the sticks that had pre-loaded software (in my case the 'U3' auto-run junk) don't work. They should with a format as noted above, but I just used a different stick and it worked fine.

I have no idea why it would make a difference, but I have had better luck with some memory sticks than with others. Also, it seems that if you have one picture of a group that the system doesn't like it won't recognize any of them.
Try a memory stick (FAT32) with nothing else on it and a picture from this site (there is a thread here with uploaded wallpaper jpg-s) in the root directory. Once you get it to work add other pictures.

I was having the same problem. I erased the U3 Launch File on the drive and it worked. Followed all the instructions in this post. Don't know what formatting is nor did I do that. Just saved off of the other post and dropped them on the USB drive. Good Luck.

It's not worth taking too much time screwing with your memory stick -- just dig up one of those old 512 MB sticks from 5 years ago and it should work just fine. Drop the pics in the root. You only do this once ina while, so you can still use the 4GB stick for your day-to-day music.

I'm having the same problem. I tried two different sticks a PNY16gb and a Cruzer 2gb. The Nav keeps saying no files detected...
