Gracenote - Please explain its functionality
I have a 2010 TL SW-AWD Tech which is new to me. I have questions about the functionality of Gracenote. I read the threads here related to GN and visited the GN website. I understand the metadata capacity of GN. I've used similar systems to update my music collection at home.
What I don't understand is what use it will be to me in the car. I don't intend on ripping CDs and using the HDD. I've stopped using CDs a few years ago. I use an iPod plugged into the USB port. It works well enough. I haven't figured out how to switch playlists yet. Will the Gracenote metadata automatically update the music information streaming from my iPod or does it only affect music on the HDD? I also assume that the Acura display will not show album covers. Am I correct? Too bad if that's the case.
So, if GN doesn't improve my iPod data, then I'll probably just ignore it and not bother updating my HDD.
I will appreciate whatever insights you have on this issue. Thanks.

^^^That
It's only used to read and fetch music data on a CD. I can't even remember the last time I used a CD to play my music.
What ticks me is why doesn't Acura allow us to rip music from iPods or USB drives to our HDDs?
GM allows it in their Cadillacs and Chevys
