Awesome list S2000. I'm walking out the door to see Tranporter 3, but you've inspired me to make my list. I'll try to do that tonight.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice list! See the format isn't dead, just a minority in huge world of mediocre. At least you have taste with quality in the EAR!

I'd like to hear the Jackson Browne disc. I loved that album cover with the drum set in the middle of the highway, and those long tube tom drums!

My other favorite is the Moody Blues-Days of Future Passed! However in one of the songs, it's mixed differently and they left out a key instrument? Or maybe it was lost on analog tape or something?

bmode,

You obviously have good taste, too!

Steve,

Wow, that is some collection!

I'm curious about the DUAL DISCS -- do these theoretically have the potential to sound as good as DVD-Audio or DTS discs?

If so, I wouldn't mind picking up John Mayer "Room For Squares" and perhaps some other titles in that format.

S2000, Sclass...

The Dual Discs aren't bad, they were the next evolution of the DVD Audio disc, which didn't catch on either. The John Mayer discs are OK. They both have a 5.1 mix on them. They also have some John Mayer interviews on them as well. I get them online at Acoustic Sounds.com or CD Universe.com. You might be able to even find them still at Best Buy possibly.

Dang that's a serious list! I envy!

By the way, you can convert the 5.1 video discs to play in the TL, it's just a bit of work, and I only know how to do it on the Mac OS. It's simply done by extracting the audio only and dumping the video, then reconverting the audio to DVD-A format.

I have a couple of the Genesis discs and, while they're DTS encoded, they are done so for DVD-V and not DVD-A.

As such they won't play in my '05 TL. Will they play in the newer versions?

I know it's an old thread but it was good to read to see the other options of DVD-A, dual disc, DTS, discs. I'll add that Faith Hill's DVD-A is great. If anyone is selling their Hootie DVD-A, let me know!

Where do you find these disks and why the hell doesn't XM radio have 5.1 surround sound audio channels? That's the only thing that would get me to subscribe to their service after my 3 month trail is over. I just went from a 2001 CL to a 2010 TL. (I tend to keep my cars awhile) I'm impressed with the advance in technology but since I don't get out of my local market much, satellite radio doesn't do much for me unless they had 5.1 surround sound. I'm blown away by that but can't find a good source that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get a disk. Anyone got a source that's either a arm or a leg but not both? :-)

Niv, you might be able to find some discs online, but it's becoming more and more difficult to find them. Don't count on Sirius/XM to do surround sound anytime soon-they can't get the signals/channels they've got now to sound that good.

I can tell you my 3G Type S head unit will separate regular CDs into surround sound, and they don't sound too bad either. I'm sure the 4G will do the same thing.

What a great resource! Thanks to all for posting their catalogs. One to add -- DOES NOT play in the car -- Queen, A Night at the Opera (30th Anniversary Edition, CD + DVD)

Since the format is dead, anything you find now is going to be around that price or higher.

I ran across a few more, impossible to find again though:

Metallica - "Black" album. I listened to this nonstop when it first came out, DVDA has so much more

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime - Absolutely the best DVDA I have ever heard in car. Has a great mix of rock/effects.

Natalie Merchant - Tigerlilly - Her voice through the system is amazing.

Isn't it true that there is no CD/DVD changer in the TL and that it only plays one disc at a time? I find this feature undesirable because I have many DVD-A and DTS discs, and the built-in hard drive does not rip DVD-A or DTS music. On the other hand, the RL comes with a 6-disc changer, right?

Not sure if you can still find it or not. I don't remember where I got it. Probably either Ebay or Accoustic Sounds.

Amazon still has some DVD Audio discs left, but they're tough to find. Plus now, they're VERY expensive too. It still makes me sick that the format didn't survive.

Mine plays beautifully in my 3G. Maybe it's your disc? I've been driving a '10 base loaner for a week now, and it plays the Benoit "American Landscape," but it won't play "Willie Nelson Live In Amsterdam," although it claims to be a "DVD-Audio" and is supposedly coded in 2-channel, DTS, and Dolby all three. Anybody know what's up with that? And what's up with a single disc player in a TL? I'd expect that in a Civic bought off the lot, but in a TL? Sometimes Honda baffles me.

Here's 26 Beatles songs in 5.1 DVD-A http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JJS8TM/...cs_email_dt_t1

It the Cirque du Soleil show sound track. All the songs have been remixed (obviously with 5.1 surround) Show was incredible, so is this disk and reasonably priced.
