Door lighting ability

I was wondering what wire it was in the A pillar that I can tap into to make my puddle lights light up when I hit unlock and open the car door. I already have them wired up and grounded, just need a power source. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

ummmm.... i think you actually have to supply the power to your lights, and then ground them through the door switch (dome light should work also, as far as a "switch")

So run the power to the battery and the negative side to the green/red wire in the A pillar?

give me a sec and i will doable check

also would you be willing to use a relay, so you do not fry the computer from too much power being drawn, or what not (basically then you can put as many lights on it as you like...)

go for the ignition key light, as it goes to the MICU, and basically what you will do is, supply battery power to the relay, then hook the ground side of the coil on it, to the white/black wire

and it should actually be coming down the steering column, so easy to get to it (also it should a smaller gauge wire, compared to like the 10 gauge for the switch itself)

also don't forget to get a voltage spike suppressing relay either (it should have a diode built into it), so basically you don't spike the computer eventually
