Having recently bought a CPO TL SH-AWD I am playing with all the little features...

I moved a photo onto the HDD and set it as my wallpaper. I thought it was cool to get my family photo - in decent quality / color - up on the nav screen.

But it appears that the only way to get it to display is to go through the menu, and select it.

I tried some voice commands like "display wallpaper" or "show wallpaper" and the car did nothing.

I did a quick search here on AZ and I found one thread claiming you COULD get the wallpaper to show up via voice command, and another thread that said you can't. both threads seemed to say that you can NOT get the wallpaper tos how up if you are moving.

so i guess my question is - do any of you really use this or is it just a total gimmick that really has no real functionality. honestly.. if I could hit a button, or say "display wallpaper" and I could ge ta nice family photo to pop up on my nav screen.. I think that would be cool.... i'd enjoy seeing my wife/kids on teh screen once in a while... but if you can't access it except when you are sitting still, and only after pushing a bunch of buttons..well.. it woudl just be easier to acceess it on my phone...

any ideas? gimmick?

if you do not hit ok on the navi warning screen when you start the car after a while, it'll jump to the wallpaper.

it's not really a useful feature. just something that's there.

 

What ^^^ said. That's the only way to view it without having the icon at the lower right.

I wish there was a way to display it again even if you click "OK" at startup.

 

Maybe Acura will improve that in future vehicles... It's not really important....but it would be a nice touch to be able to have the wallpaper visible "on demand".

"display wallpaper" would have been an easy voice command to include....

 

There's a menu option to show it and I believe there's a "show wallpaper" voice command as well. But, the car has to be stopped in order for it to work.
