Can u play dvd-video on the 4g tl???

This is a question that has been bugging me for a while. I'm hoping and I know the answer may just flat out be no but, I can't believe Honda/Acura has not addressed this issue.

As my side job I do valet parking about 1 or 2 days a week mostly on the weekend. Some of the cars I have driven have the ability to play DVD-video when the car is in park and then switches to the audio (in the rear headrests or rear flip down screen) when the car is in gear. I know you can do mod's like NAV to TV but why not just make it "plug and play"?

Anyway for all you 4G owners out there (and I'm sure once the SH-AWD comes out there will be alot more), does the car play DVD-video????
And...... why won't Acura offer TV's in the headrests as an option like other luxury brands like Cadillac, Range Rover, Volvo, etc....?????

You cannot play DVD-video in the 4G TL.....it's not supported....only DVD-A's. If you want to put headrest monitors in the TL, you can always go to Bestbuy or Circuitcity or any other car stereo place......it's probably much cheaper than if Acura offered them.

Another reason why Acura has fu*cked up in my opinion with the car. Why does Lexus continue to beat us with more luxurious items (bluetooth is better (can actually dial the navi touch screen), heated (dial controlled))/ventilated seats, a working "straight out the box" DVD-video player)????

Does anybody else out there want a car where you can play DVD's and watch through the navi??? Anybody wonder why the TL does not have RDS a feature that is standard on Ford's?? Honda has some explaining to do.

Um, on the 1G TSX, Acura did offer a rear passenger DVD entertainment system. I can only assume that it's the case (or will be the case) with the 2G TSX. It's been an option on the MDX as well.

Lexus Bluetooth is crap! Yay for the fact that you can press button on the screen. Yeah, when you're stationary!!
And what's the point of bluetooth dialing when you have to clearly and slowly annunciate everything, then confirm every thing you're about to do, and want to do? Luxurious Lexus items for sure

Dial controlled heated seat is lame ass. Has anyone ever tested to see whether the temperature would actually changes and you could feel it? I have it and it didn't do anything extra. It just gives you the illusion of "control".

Ventilated seat would be nice though, as well as having the auto down option on all passenger windows too.

I was surprised that my 08TL didn't have this. I'm thinking that this is probably a safety feature and I' kind of glad Acura didn't go the Lexus route and put the ALL AUTO feature on. But as for the other stuff, damn Acura you need to step your game up. I'm hoping that all these issues are resolved by the time I by my car in 2011.

To me, the only feature I wish my 4G TL had was the ventilated seats.....since the leather already comes perforated, I don't think it would've been that hard for Acura to include this feature. As far as being able to playback DVD-video, it's no big deal to me......you can always get aftermarket headrest monitors, etc. (Custom installers can do almost anything these days). For a $39K car, though, you are still getting a heck of a lot.

Even more-so, if you give it about a year, these aftermarket gurus will come up with an interface that will allow you to watch video. You just have to wait until the car is old enough. Its only been on the market for a month. Hold Your horses. It took almost two years to get ipod integration (aftermarket that is) into the 3G. It will come around and you'll be tearing out those panels and installing boxes and gadgets in no time.

The 09 TL has RDS. You can get the manual here: https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/logon.asp

If you look at the TL brochure, you'll see "Radio Database System (RDS)" listed under INTERIOR/AUDIO features.
