Bluetooth Quality

Being in the high tech business it is very disappointing when a product/car like the 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD with Tech Package falls short of the promise.

Every time I call someone using the Bluetooth they all ask me: "Are you driving with your windows open?" The answer is "no"!

The noise cancelling capabilities of the microphone is non-existent. I also own a Yahama FJR1300 and I have a Scala Rider Bluetooth system that connects to my phone. Guess what? At 75 MPH down the highway most people cannot tell I am on the bike - in fact they think I am at home or the office. It's just that quiet.
So why, in a $50K car can they NOT put decent software to deal with the issue - dealer answer: "You can do that?" arghh...

Also what's up with the really old map updates????
Paid my annual $165 get the DVD - update everything and a main highway in San Diego built 2 years previous is MISSING - huh?
So I call NavTeq and they tell me that it is Acura the lets them know which revision they want - you are kidding me!

I own a $100 Garmin with lifetime maps for $90 and the highway has been there for over a year!

So sad when a fine car like Acura falls so short on the technology side.

There is a delay when streaming music via Bluetooth in the TL. Other than that, I am pretty okay with the system.

I have not had any problems with the Bluetooth quality. Are your AC/heat/Defrost running a high fan speed while talking? That's the only time I can think you would have an issue.

Generally nothing else is running.
I have even left myself a message while driving on the highway and I can hear the road noise.

If it wasn't for the fact that I know it can be eliminated (software) I would live with it - though I would expect it to be clear all the time fan or not.

As mentioned, on my motorcycle with the wind blasting nobody knows I am riding at all.

Thanks for the ideas -

No one ever has a problem hearing me thru my TLs bluetooth. Did you ever consider that you may have a shitty phone and the bluetooth is not up to par on that?

What type of phone do you have?

The bluetooth paired with my HTC Evo 3D and my old Samsung Galaxy S work well on both parties. In my experience Acura's bluetooth works great.

Now I have to interject and say Lexus' bluetooth is GARBAGE, incomprehensible... I gave up after a few calls when I had my 09 IS 250 AWD, and my friend's ES350's bluetooth is just terrible, just translates noise and doesn't pick up the voice in the car.

I will get the dealer to check it out - though when it comes to electronics like this and I mention it the service person - I get this blank look back at me... So I just live with it.

Just wondering what others have done or have had the same issue.

I had both Samsung Galaxy SII (I9100) and SIII (I747M)
None of that has problem (SII with GB and JB, SIII w/ JB).
The BT driver on SII is a bit buggy, but it's mostly related to connecting issue... once connected..... the audio is fine (I believe the audio is stream through UART, not I2S due to the driver implementation, but I maybe wrong)

I would suggest you go try on another TL with the same phone and isolate out is it a phone related issue or car's mic related issue...

It sounds like a mike or B/T issue. People comment to me all the time how well the phone works through the car's B/T. Likewise, the quality of the sound in the car is superb. (BTW, I'm using an EVO).
