Back up Camera
Back up Camera
Was just backing up my car today in the driveway and noticed that the license plate on our Accord appears backwards on the screen. Not sure why it took so long for my to notice this, I've had the car for almost a year now. Anyone else notice this or is there something wrong with my camera?
Accord? Huh?
I don't know how you can see your license place in your backup camera, the lowest I can see is the rear trunk trim, but that's in my TL. But it's probably like a mirror reflection or something on camera.

It's because my drive way is pretty sloped so the camera is looking up. I was thinking about it some more and realized that the entire image is horizontally flipped. It makes sense because of the perspective of looking forward at the screen while backing up. Found this wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backup_camera) that explains it well,
"The design of a backup camera is distinct from other cameras in that the image is horizontally flipped so that the output is a mirror image. This is necessary because the camera and the driver face opposite directions, and without it, the camera's right would be on the driver's left and vice versa. A mirrored image makes the orientation of the display consistent with the physical mirrors installed on the vehicle."
