Annoying problem when iPhone paired via Bluetooth

Just an annoyance really. But when my iPhone is paired no sound comes out of the phone. So many times I arrive at a place I notice many text messages that I never heard. I guess is there a way tl disable ad2p since I never stream Bluetooth audio?

it's not a problem it's a feature Probably good for you not to get texts while driving anyway.

Happens to me too.

IS your iPhone on "quiet"?
Because I recall that the message-ringtone came through the speakers.

And otherwise I agree: Don't text and drive! A Sext from your mistress can wait...

lol trust me i never text and drive; however i do check my texts at red lights. but the bigger problem is that since i dont even hear the text i dont realize i have one and i dont check it when i get home for hours. i'm currently in the habit of checking my phone periodically in the car which is annoying

no it's not on quiet. it will come through the speakers if i'm listening to bluetooth audio, which i never do. but if i'm listening to XM or have it off then i hear nothing

i disagree on the sext's from the mistress part lol

put the phone on vibrate and you'll know when you're getting one.

Bluetooth Audio = All Sound to Bluetooth. XM Source = No Sound from Bluetooth.

Pandora > XM. Ditch the XM and then you'll hear all your notifications AND you'll get better music - WHILE saving money.

I feel XM>Pandora for many reason, especially for talk radio and sports. I listen the music channels as well. Pandora is good if you only listen to music.

Good point (and good price really). If the news/sports stuff is your gig, yeah, XM definitely offering some content there. For the music, I never could get past the poor bitrate (fizzy, pingy, lossy sound) that is trumped by Pandora over 3g (which still doesn't hold a candle to DVD-A, but is tolerable). There may be other apps (iheartradio is what I use for sports talk type stuff, and you can get ESPN radio stuff on syndication in lots of markets, just not live sports broadcasts).

IOS5 for the iphone will be out in less than a month, and is supposed to offer a much more integrated approach to picking audio/video output devices built into the OS; maybe this smart logic will make BT smarter when it's not actively in use.

I don't hear my notification alerts when the iPhone4 is connected via UBS, either...allI hear is when someone actually calls me. Don't know if that's a safety feature or not...

having the same issue - no sound while paired with MDX...and after we leave the car

When my iPhone is paired no sound comes out of the phone. So many times I arrive at a place I notice many text messages that I never heard.

I see that the recommendation was to just turn on vibrate....any other "fixes" since this post? Would be nice to get the alerts via sound as you can't always hear the vibration...and we don't always want to have the phone in our laps...radiation and all :-)

Look for the app that disables the a2dp profile when it's open. If you have a jail broken phone there is an app that always disable a2dp unless you want to use it.

A2dp is the Bluetooth profile that is used for the audio, it doesn't affect the hands free calling.

I have the same situation. Even if the phone is on ring, I hear nothing for texts. The two solutions I have are have the phone laying on me so I can feel the vibrate or have the phone in front of the change holder facing me and hope I see the screen light up. Neither are good solutions, just waiting for my Pebble watch.

I just got a loaner 2013 RDX while my 06TL is in the shop and I'm APPALLED that this is how Acura implemented A2DP and they didn't foresee this issue.

So if I'm driving and want to hear anything from my phone, voice navigation, text alerts, etc, I have to keep my radio on Bluetooth streaming. That makes NO sense. To make it even worse, even if I do this and pause my iPhone if I don't want to listen to music, after every phone call, the car seems to send a "play" command to the iphone and whatever was playing last, starts playing, so I have to fumble with the iPhone to pause it again. This is terrible design.

Toyota/Lexus got it right where you have to pair the phone/car 2x, once as a headset/phone device and once as an A2DP device. That way the car and phone both know when each profile is active. So if I turned the radio off in my wifes Lexus loaner during her service, the A2DP profile shut down and all alerts/phone sounds played through the phone again.

This is seriously enough for me to not consider an Acura again when I am looking to replace the TL.
