Aftermarket Subwoofer & Amp

i want to install an aftermarket sub & amp in my TL with a line out converter, do i need to disconnect the stock subwoofer? and how do i go about doing it?

Remove rear seat, bottom (4 bolts) then back (lift up then out, one side at time).

Remove rear deck cover (clips only).

Remove sub and use speaker wires to feed LOC. The one I bought also had a remote wire.

I used the hole for the hood release to run power and have had no issues.

ok thanks, i think i might just disconnect it and leave the sub in just in case

So you are saying that to remove the rear deck we don't have to remove the c-pillars? The manual say that these have to be removed. It would be so much easier if the c-pillars would not have to be removed.

I would also disconnect the factory sub if I was installing a aftermarket sub/box and amp. Also you could just tap into that factory sub harness for the LOC. That way, you could adjust the sub-woofer bass from the headunit still.

I removed to sub to allow for more sound to travel from the trunk to the cabin. You could also keep the trunk passthrough open.

Oops! I forgot that step! You're right, the c-pillars do have to be removed.

A big reason why I went that route.

i have a two channel LOC with remote wire, i was just going to connect it to the left & right rear speakers...how to i tap into the sub harness?

Online or at your local car audio stores. Also Walmart should have them for under $20
