Adding an amp and sub to stock ELS system?

I took out all of my stereo equipment out of the old 01 CLS that I will be selling now. And picking up the new to me 09 TL SH-AWD next week. So the first order of business will be installing my 12" Eclipse sub and JL 500/1 amp to substitute the stock sub. I listened to the ELS system for a little bit at the dealer and like all stock systems the sub is boomy and does not provide the sound I seek. The stock speakers will probably do just fine but time will tell.

So I am assuming I need to get a JL CleanSweep in order to feed a clean signal to the JL amp from the stock system, correct?

What would you do for a sub box in order to maximize the trunk space? Build something custom in the side of the trunk or build a simpler box that will face the rear seats with the sub facing towards the trunk?

No sweep needed if only adding a sub and amp. Run the sub speaker output directly into the JL 500/1. It takes speaker line inputs.
