Talking 4th gen Firewall Access the Easy Way

What up everyone I am new and this is my first post.

Just wanted to share my experience on going though the firewall on my 09 TL SH AWD to run the power for my amp. I have been referring to this awesome site a lot to get all the info I needed and the one part I got stuck on longer than I wanted to was the firewall.

Here are most of the methods I found in my searches regarding 4th gen TL firewall access.

1. Take off drivers side wheel well to get to grommet.
2. Grommet behind break pedal & rubber pad (hard to get to in engine bay)
3. Punch hole in existing main wire harness through firewall (IMO risky)
4. Drill a new hole around the brake booster area.

I attempted option 2 and failed so I did my own investigation. I wanted avoid drilling or running wire through the wheel well if possible.

I found a lonely grommet towards the TOP of the inside of the engine bay maybe 6 inches over from the middle of the engine. It is camouflaged and I only noticed it when I grabbed my super bright flashlight.

Steps to run power wire through this grommet:

1. Get a fairly long flat-head and pop it out.
2. Poke hole through the insulation with the flat-head.
3. Fish hanger wire or whatever similar through the hole at about a 45 degree angle going down and in to the drivers side floor board area. (It will come out around the edge of the center console and down to your break pedal.)
4. Tape up your power wire REALLY good and pull it through. Should fit up to 1 or 2 gauge easy.

Hope it saves someone some time in the future since I spent a good while doing searches for the 4th gen and fighting my first attempt. Everything else with the system install went smooth thanks to this community. I can't say the back seat removal part was fun but at least I knew EXACTLY how to do it thanks to you guys.

Holla!

Thanks, this actually looks very useful. Hopefully the same access hole exists on the 2012 FWD.

Looking to install a laser jamming system soon. Will be very useful to have the wires pull this easily.
