Hey guys,

Everytime I start my car my XM radio starts on the preview channel. I have to actively select the channel/shortcut each time. Its pretty annoying to have to do this everytime.

Is it an actual issue with the radio/car or does it default that way because I'm on the trial?

 

I would say there is something going on with your radio or trial subscription. If it was working correctly, it would stay on the last channel before turning off your car. IIRC an inactive radio will default to the preview channel. Maybe you can try and have a reset signal sent to your car to see if that helps. It sounds like you have an active trial subscription, but maybe it's not set up right?

 

Hmm. I'll give them a call and see what the issue is. Good to hear that it's subscription related and not hardware/software related.

You're welcome, but I can't definitely say it is an issue with the subscription. However that is what I suspect and where I would start if I were in your shoes.

From a diagnostic perspective you might also want to try and see what happens with an FM station and see if it changes between when you shut down and start your car. May not do or prove anything but is another data point for diagnostics.

 

New to the forum and am having the same issue with my XM.

The customer service rep from XM suggested that I go back to the dealer and have them look at it.

 

I'm waiting for my trial to end to see if the problem still persists, hopefully it is the trial....

 

When I was on my 90 day trial it would stay on the same station. I didn't even know there was a preview channel until after my trial ended and now I'm stuck on Channel 1 until I give them $$$.
