2010 TL SH-AWD Tech speaker size help

I'm picking up my 2010 TL SH-AWD Tech Crystal Black Pearl/Ebony from the dealer today and I plan on replacing all of the speakers and adding 2 clean sweeps (to keep 5.1), JL amps and single JL 12" sub in January 2010.

I need to know if 4 inch speakers will fit in the center and rear door sections. Acura states that the center and read door speaker sizes are 8 centimeters or 3.5 inches.

I'm also removing the factory sub and having a custom subbox built in the trunk to house a JL 12W6V2.

I know I will have to disconnect the road noise mics that control the SVC in the factory head unit to avoid feedback from my sub.

I will send pics of the work once completed. Could not find anyone with a 4th Gen that has done a speaker replace and amp additions.

Do you have a base tech (keyless access and one push start) or tech w/ NAV?

Now that I think about it shouldnt matter. The units SVC (speed sensitive volume control) uses vehicle speed to determine if volume needs increased. You do not need to worry about this function being affected by your mods. However, active noise cancelation and HFT use the same microphone located in the roof console you will most likely loose your handsfree telephone and ANC functions if you disconnect the microphone. Not to mention that if you do have NAV you will be plauged with body electrical DTC's in your NAV inbox. How do you plan to wire the new amp?

The Acura techs are certain that the active noise cancelation and HFT don't share the same mic. If that is not the case and I risk losing HFT the mods will not be done. If they are separate, I plan on using two JL clean sweeps to separate the front, center, rear door, rear deck and subwoofer signals and run them to a JL HD 900/5 and JL HD 600/4. The 900/5 will be for the sub, center and rear door speakers. The 600/4 will be for the front and rear deck speakers. Morel 4" midrange speakers for the center and rear door. Boston Z-6s for the front and rear deck. Boston G5-1244 in a custom sealed box for the sub.

The microphone in the roof console is the only microphone in the car. I would not worry about that though. The audio head unit will definately not play nice if the factory amp is disconnected, you will need to somehow intercept the speaker output from the factory amp keeping it operational. Ask your acura techs about GA-NET if they dont know what it is then they dont know what they are doing. Just for your information, GA-NET is a communication protocol that any computer that deals with audio uses to transfer audio information. If you disconnect it then all audio will most likely be lost.

Thanks for the advice. I'm still trying to get concrete info on the mic but I think you are correct about the mic(s) location being in the front. I did not see any on the rear dome light.

As for the factory headunit and aftermarket amp functionality, the purchase of the 2 JL cleansweep devices I mentioned on the initial thread will be used to tap into the speaker wires after the factory amp.

My main concern is that I may get feedback from the ANC functionality that will result in a humming sound from my sub. The installer of my aftermarket components (not an Acura employee) is concerned about this and I'm hoping to get an ancer from the community before I start shelling out money.

Nothing before the factory amp will be tapped into and if I risk losing any of the factory functions, the plan will be scrapped.
