2009 TL w/ Tech Audio Upgrade

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and could use some advice. I have a 2009 TL w/ tech and i'm looking to do a full sound system upgrade (I'm just not impressed with the factory system)

I have already done the subwoofer, I got a JL 12w6 in a sealed box with a JX 1000/1 AMP and threw some dynamat in the trunk and the rear deck. I also have a JL 8w1 to replace the factory sub (not sure how well that will work in free air)

My question is, what speakers should I use to upgrade the components and tweeters? I would like to do all of them. Also, should I use a second amp for them or stick with the factory one? Any input is appreciated - I am fairly new to audio upgrades aside from a few sub installs.

Thanks!

Having work in the car audio shop back in my HS days. There's so much more than just upgrading speakers and expect the sound to be better.

Have to consider quality speaker, quality amplification to the speakers, acoustic treatment and lastly, the quality of the music source.

Do some more research before you just jump in and buy new speakers. It will pay off in the end for you.

you wont need to replace the factory sub. Way too much just remove it. I have a JL 12W7 powered by JL1000/1 and i replace all the speakers besides the center and powered it with Fosgate 400/4 and put an audio control processor which makes it much easier when using factory head unit .

I consulted a few experts and did quite a bit of research before buying the subwoofer setup and im happy with it. I cant find as much information on the component speakers though - Do you have any suggestions? If leaving it stock is the best way to go, thats what I will do. I'm just looking for the best setup because I really enjoy this car and I plan on keeping it for a long time.
Thanks!

What speakers did you use? That w7 must sound awesome! Thats the one I really wanted but it was way too much money for my budget.

That is a loaded question. It's all about your budget and how far you want to go down that road. Just swapping the speakers out does help some but really if you want to get big sound definitely go all out with an aftermarket amp. If you are really serious dive in to audiocontrol / cleansweep products.

I would ditch replacing the stock sub since you already put in a W6. Remove the stock sub and just having that hole there will let in more sound from your 12 than your 8 would put out on the factory amp.

I'm a big fan of FOCAL speakers. I have them in my 2010 Tech, and they sound great powered by the stock amp. HOWEVER, I would use an aftermarket amp if you can swing it because it will sound that much better, and blend well with your subs..
